THE MEN

I think Stephen Carriere will try to make up for that insignificant display in Skate America. If he is going to be the USFS' next best thing, he has to make a good showing here.

Other skaters who must prove their worth: Li, Verner, Lindeman, Dobrin, Abbott or curtains for them.

Sergei Davydov has a history of skating well, if not the best, and he just may sneak on the Podium. Daisuke has no challenger here. So, I could stretch the imagination and name Carriere for a silver or bronze.

THE LADIES

I think Miki's biggest threat will be Aki Sawada. Meier has some proving of herself here. Kostner will podium and Poykio has that very excellent routine. I can not believe that Elene has gotten rid of the problems. I can not predict this event easily. Ando, Sawada, Meier, Kostner and Poykio - Three of them will podium, 2 will not.

PAIRS

No Japanese team listed, however, Inoue and Baldwin withdrew so I presume Zhang and Zhang will get a third assignment here and possibly knock off McLaughlin and Brubaker from the podium. I believe Obertas and Slavnov also withdrew but not sure. Li and Xu looked very good on youtube. Langois and Hay improved a lot this season. I can not predict this podium especially not knowing if a replacement with a Top Team has been selected. Strange that NKH did not have a Japanese team on the roster, here.

ICE DANCE

A very heavy bevi of top 10 teams: Virtue/Moir; Delobel/Schoenfelder; The Kerrs; Khokhlova/Novitski.

Navarro/Bommentre have not yet been inducted into the Ice Dance Judging Club yet. I believe the Club is saying goodbye to The Kerrs, unfortunately, leaving the V/M,D/S,K/N podium finishers to have their placements decided.

Joe

Joe,
Lindemann withdrew from NHK a while ago!!!

Also Zhang and Zhang have been assigned to cup of Russia. They are not skating at Japan.

that's right!

i have the bad feeling that the judges will put V/M over D/S...i hope i am wrong[/QUOTE]

*sigh* be realistic...
haha
i know...how....ARGH
but we all know D/S should've medaled in the past few worlds and in olympics!

*patiently waiting for opposers*

I really believe that V&M will be ahead of D&S - perhaps not at first, but by the final standings V&M will be on top of the podium if they skate like they did at Skate Canada.

I hope I'm right!

It seems Poykio has withdrawn from NHK...Read it on another forum though, i can't confirm...
Ando, Meier, Kostner will podium for sure, unless surprises..

I honestly don't think that the judges will put anyone over anyone else. I think that the best team on the day will win. The predictions that I made earlier in the thread were made before the GP season started, so I have to change some things. I'll admit, I wouldn't be surprised to se V/M come out on top, and fairly. I agree with an earlier post that says they wont win the CD, but by the FD I would expect them to be first. And ITA with the poster who said that D/S should have been on the world podium the loast two seasons. Of course, JMO. I also have to cange my pairs predictions, and put the Germans ag-head of D/D. They were not on the list when I made my initial prediction.
