Good luck in your after-skating life Lilbet! Worlds and 4CC silvers are great accomplishments. I hope Kazahkstan will have another lady of that level.

About other Asian ladies, i was hoping yo see Yi-Christy Leung this season but that seems unlikely.
Apparently Taïwan doesn't have an entry in Nebelhorn. What happened to Amy Lin. Did she retire?
I don't have high hopes for Thailand making it to olympics but i hope that Thita will skate well.
Pertichetto must have regressed if fed send another skater to Nebelhorn.

Can we include South American skaters?
I read on twitter or facebook that Eugenia GARZA will try to win HER spot for olympics. It looked like a poste from the fed. So that means that no matter what happen in the season Andrea Montesino don't have any chance to get that spot (if Mexico win it, which franckly i don't expect).

Let's!

Weren't they sending Jenny Shyu (participated in Autumn Classics)? Actually, they are sending Tzu-Han Ting, and the men's entry is Che Yu Yeh. Make sure you search for "TPE" when it comes to Taiwan in an entry list 😅

Couldn't find information about Amy Lin, but I will.

She wasn't spotted on Chinese GP lists as she used to be at some point (she participated in a Chinese nationals and won it IIRC). So yeah, I think this season is a wash for her.

And talking about making it to the Olympics, the Philippines will have competition, because Michael Christian Martinez wanted to come back for these Olympics, IIRC, though I didn't keep up with the updates, and if he still wants to. (ETA: he's withdrawn his Olympic bid https://twitter.com/phskating/status/1428660098520412161/photo/1)

ETA: Julian Yee... No GP spots, I guess  I don't think he retired, and there are some posts on his IG about skating, but one also implies he hasn't been able to return to ice.

😅
Ting seems to be able to crack 150 overall laybe even 160. Good potential.

Since she could take part to Chinese nationals, i wonder, if she had a spot for olys, she would have competed for Hong Kong or China? I assume Hong Kong but then you have athletes who compete under Scotland's flag at worlds and compete under Great Britain at olys.

I was surprised when MCM said he wanted to come back. Given his lack of competition in recent years.

Julian, i knew covid would hurt him badly. That's too bad. With more money and stable training base he could have done more.

It would be for Hong Kong. She's always skated for Hong Kong. Taiwan and Hong Kong are able to compete as separate entities from China (as they should, but not the place for that lol) because they have their own Olympic committees recognized by the IOC. (ETA: Macau, the fourth part, has its own Olympic committee, but isn't recognized by the IOC).

Politically, Scotland is different because it's always been part of Great Britain (at least since the 1700s). Tensions notwithstanding, it's not the same case as Hong Kong and Taiwan vs China 😅 Somewhat like Quebec and Canada instead. But a lot of it is politics, and nationalism, and why we are fine with some, not with others... and why some OCs are recognized, and others are not, haha.

About women's entry for Taiwan (TPE) to Nebelhorn, I have provided some explanations in the discussion of the Nelbelhorn entry early on:

There was a selection competition held earlier in Apr. Ting took the 1st place in Sr. Women's competition. On the other hand, Emmy Ma (who represented Taiwan during WC2021) had announced her retirement, which left Shyu to be the highest rank in the world ranking. But since Shyu could not make it back to Taiwan for the selection competition due to the quarantine requirement at that time, in the end Ting got the entry.

Tzu-han actually has a quite good prospect to get a decent result. She's been training in the US during the summer time and competed at Broadmoor Open 2021 & Glacier Fall Summer Classic. I think Tzu-han could be of disadvantage, due to lack of experience in international competitions. But if not making it to the Olympics, hopefully she can clear the TES minimum for the WC.

Thanks for the information! Do you also know why they sent Che Yu Yeh instead of Chih-I Tsao? I only ever saw Tsao doing roller skating competitions in 2020, was his figure skating training hit really badly with COVID? Has he retired now?

Yeah, I'd not heard of Tzu-Han, but I still hope she can make it to the Olympics. Good to know she's had the opportunity to train.

Yeh won the selection competition in Apr. So he earned the spot and Tsao is in sub for Nebelhorn. I think Chih-I is now coaching in Taipei. I don't think he's formally made the announcement to retire (yet).

Tzu-Han is actually the 1st locally trained women's skater from Taiwan. She has complete sets of triples (probably some edge problems with F/Lz) and nice skating skills.

Oh that's great. I'll definitely catch her skating at NT.

Did Emmy explain why she chose to retire?
I was surprised when i learned she retired. 2021 WC wasn't really good for her but she's young and could have bounced back.
When she was representing USA, I remember she had all triples except 3T and got some nice results.

Did Emmy explain why she chose to retire?
Actually, the announcement was not from Emmy. I got the information from a statement released by the CT-skating federation (in explanation about the selection process). In the statement it mentioned that Emmy retired...

Dias Jirenbayev of Kazakhstan showed potential at Nebelhorn - will check later if he got the 4CC minimums, at least.

Tzu-Han Ting of Taiwan, of course, has her 4CC mins AND established her LP mins for worlds at Nebelhorn. Hope she skates a great SP at Asian Open and gets that SP min, too. (ETA: Also, apparently, she's taken part in the junior section of the Chinese local grand prix before... Maybe competing against An Xiangyi next summer will make them both improve)

Got the LP minimums, but not the SP ones... Will need to do another Challenger, I guess. Maybe will show up at Denis Ten Memorial?

Loads of Asian skaters at Asian Open! (removing the Chinese, South Koreans, and Japanese, as needed)

The entries for the CS Asian Open are out!
Men
Harrison Jon-Yen Wong HKG
Lap Kan Yuen HKG
Women
Joanna So HKG
Maral-Erdene Gansukh MGL
Thita Lamsam THA
Teekhree Silpa-Archa THA
Tzu-Han Ting TPE
Hope they all get the 4CC minimums at least (and praying Ting skates a clean SP and gets those World mins!). No Che Yu Yeh at this challenger, however, despite Ting being there.

I would have liked to see Tara Prasad again.

Why so few Asian entries?
It should be easier for them to go at this competition than to a competition in Europe.
