2021 Open d'Andorra

She just got the FS minimum for EC by the hair!! She made some costly mistakes in the last part. And now she got the silver!

The FS for WC will come later, now i´m incredible happy we have 2 girls qualified for EC and who got on the podium! :hap10:

I can't remember seeing 2 Norwegian girls on an international podium before. Of course, you would automatically assume that my daughters, the Gjersem twins, would have shared international podia lots of times. But it was actually very rare that they would get sent to the same competition. (Which I always thought strange, as you normally find siblings getting sent to the same competitions whenever possible, to cut down the costs).

But, today we had a great result for the Northernmost part of Europe, with Emmi Peltonen joining your girls on the podium.

And I just noticed, the Top 2 in the FS, Emmi and Frida, were the only skaters that went clean. Everybody else had at least one fall.

Well done!!!

In a way, it's fitting that we are starting and finishing the day with Ice Dancers. However, it turned out bad for me because they both took place at meal times!

I think I'll wait until the re-surfacing to have my tea, so that there is only one group to play catch up on.

Here we go with the Dutchies! :)

And now for the Battle Of Alexandra Palace!

(That sounds really epic, doesn't it?)

Aurilija and Luke up first for Latvia.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Never heard that song being skated to before, but it really worked.

So far, based on that, I am hoping they can climb up.

And they maintain their lead.

Now for their team-mates. India and Eron for Australia.

Gaaahhh!!! We missed a chunk of the choreography because India and Eron were doing it right up against the boards, and somebody with a camcorder was blocking our view!!! :bang: :bang: :bang:

I have mixed feelings about the music. At the start, we had an instrumental version of "Music" by John Miles. Now, I love that song, but this version sounded awful! Then we had a crowd, sounding something like you get during the protests in "Les Misérables". I didn't like that either. I liked the next section of music. But, then it went back to the instrumental version of "Music" that we started with.

The skating was undoubtedly of a higher level than their team-mates.

From a lead of practically nothing after the SP, they extend it to about 7 points.

So, Australia won the Battle Of Alexandra Palace.

The question now is whether one or even both of them overtake the Germans.

Hello! I just tuned in. Managed to get back to the start of the live stream so I could watch Chelsea and Sherim. Bit of a problem with the choreographic twizzle. But they came in last anyway. Still enjoyed the watch.

Looks like India and Eron had a good Dance - although we missed a bit because someone filming was in the way.

What. On. Earth. Is. Marie. Wearing???!!! :jaw:

It's like somebody was trying to mummify her with purple material. But, they couldn't be bothered doing it properly and left massive gaps.

(Don't worry, there was illusion mesh in between!)

And then they cut off the shoulder of Thomas's top and tried to mummify it, with similar results.

Seriously, weird costumes aside, I enjoyed that programme. Unlike yesterday, their music was more like the conventional music we are used to. I didn't recognise it, but I enjoyed it.

And I enjoyed the skating too.

Rather big twizzle issues with the Germans...Personally I would have the Aussies on top. But I'm no judge!

During the first part of this programme, I was thinking "Is the Kiwi partnership trying to turn into a French Ice Dance partnership?!"

Awful cover of "Seven Nation Army" to start with. Then The Beatles' "Revolution". Then the proper version of "Seven Nation Army".

Loved the matching jackets that they are wearing. But, Charlotte's doesn't go with her pink dress.

Despite the dodgy music at the start, on the whole I really enjoyed that programme.

They maintain the lead in both.

What was I saying about weird French Ice Dance programmes?

OK, so skaters using the "Romeo And Juliet" music is not weird. But, that version of it was undoubtedly weird.

And the costumes were weird too. They made me think more of a gothic "Alice In Wonderland".

But, despite it being a weird programme, you can't deny that the skating was quality.

Should definitely hold onto the lead.

Apart from that fluke fall, Marie and Thomas had a wonderful Dance. Never mind the awful costumes!

We're on safer ground now. A "Chicago" programme from the second German partnership.

You know I like the more traditional type of programmes. So, it will not surprise you to hear that I loved that.

My non-professional opinion: The trend of no changes from the SP order is continuing into the interval.

Oh. It doesn't. Lara and Max go into 3rd in the FS and 2nd overall.

And now it is (well past) time for food.

I don't know if I'll see the rest tonight. But...

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

I kept waiting for Charlotte to take her jacket off...even though it isn't an exhibition programme. Rather enjoyed the skate of the New Zealanders though.
