Better places in the 2026 Olympic ice rink

At €280-€650 for the team event, I was thinking who pays this? But then I went through the list and curling qualification is €50-€100 . No offence to the curling fans. I think the ice dance and men events will sell out quicker. The women are dominated by Japanese, but only 20% of their population have passports. The GP final is maybe the best event of the year apart from one particular domestic championship, yet struggled to sell very reasonably priced tickets in a 4,000 capacity hall.

It will never not sell out, because they would give tickets away or sell them at a discount to fill the arena, but some of the events seem like a tough sell. Maybe this is part of the reason why the IOC is insisting on admitting skaters from non-ISU competitions, there was a lack of people registering interest in figure skating tickets .

For Euros this year, short program tickets are €16.10 - 31.10 and free programme tickets €26.10 - 51.10. It's good value, I think!

Session tickets for Grenoble Grand Prix final were €20 - 70, depending on session and seating position. Each session had three to five events, mixing juniors and seniors. Obviously, just six skaters per event.

I'd love to go to the Olympics, but I'd be seeing a similar level of skating to that we see at GPF or Euros, and basically splashing my holiday budget on a short trip.
Ohhhhh:dbana:you bring me out of my mind!! It's very good, time ago I would dreamed instead of see a great competition like the Europeans by spending 200-300 euros at least to get a "half good" seat! But this reality is now affordable for me. Unfortunately though I will miss Euros.. I will count on the next time!!
And about the Grand Prix final, you gave me headache telling me about those prices:biggrin:........ It's another "must event" I will check with time in the future!...
Previously I didn't imagine big events like these would costed a "normal" price, but at the time I also couldn't think to go out and buy them.
I'm afraid now that the Olympic prices won't be so low even if one is registered in the ticketing draw.. I must wait some other days and then I will find out the big truth😬. I will surely tell you, too, about Olympic tickets and ticket packages offered!!
I thank you so much for these PRECIOUS infos!

That could be a reason, of course. Who knows what will happen in february and then in april with Olympic tickets, maybe there will come a good offert, but yes 650+ sounds really unreasonable!! Maybe letting see to people that prices are so high, it could be a way to let people from all over the world to come at the events even if maybe prices are not so high actually, since otherwise too many people would join the event and there would be an over sold seats against the reality?... I don't know, maybe it's just my fantasy:scratch2:

I fear that next year's Euros may be more expensive than this year - tickets to sporting events usually sell very well in the UK, so prices are boosted acccordingly.

It will be worth keeping an eye on the Worlds in Prague 2026.

I was thinking at the "preparatives" for my possibile days in Milano, but I noticed that if I go I must bring with me something fundamental: skaters banners!! You know, those amazing and sophisticated banners with the print of one's favorite skater, his name ecc. Where do people usually find them? There's an online shop where I could buy them or people create their own banners and then send them to print at the copyshop?

Certain sporting events.
Figure skating is just not that popular over here.

The Grand Prix held in Sheffield a couple of years back was in a tiny venue and that was hardly rammed full.

Women's football is more popular over here, and even the top WSL teams have relatively low ticket prices to encourage attendance.

Honestly, the handheld banner towels you see are almost always the ones for Japanese skaters and would likely need to be imported from Japan. You may want to check each skater's website or social media for details on these banners and how to order them. I have a couple of these types of banners, but they were bought on-site during the 2023 World Championships in Saitama, Japan. You might need a proxy ordering service if these banners don't ship outside of Japan.

If this seems too difficult for you, I have found it fun to create my own signs and banners to support skaters! You may want to check to see if there are any size restrictions on signs and banners before making one. The very large fancy banners you often see hanging around the sides of a rink are fanmade!

Some fans of certain skaters may also make their own signs or banners and give them to fellow fans for free! These fans are rare, but be on the lookout for them!

Edit: Clarified my post!

That was also affected by reluctance to go out, post COVID. Ticketing was expensive, and not handled well. The first release of tickets appeared to sell out for popular sessions, and they didn't say there would be further tickets, but more tickets were released very close to the event.

We wanted to go, but thought we'd missed out. Then, by the time the later tickets were released, we'd made other plans.

We went to Sheffield Euros in 2012, and they were well-attended. Judging from the all-event ticket prices, it should be quite manageable again. We won't do all-event.

Wow, thank you so much for these clarifications and advices!! I'm really new to these things so with you all I can understand them better!!
Yes, surely a fanmade banner is always sooo nice! By the ways, they express fan's own creativity and devotion to their favorite skaters!
Even though I might not be present at the Olympics, I will use these suggestions for other competition also of course!! Thank you a lot again!

I will try to make banners for Deanna/Max and Minerva/Nikita :D We booked acoomodations yesterday. Seemed to risky to wait longer since it's probably not going to become cheaper. It's crazy, there are offers for hotel rooms for 60.000 Euros for the time we want to be there...😱 and since the ice rink is not in the city center, everything near there is understandably already booked.

How nice to make banners for them:)! I will make banners for my favorites too!
Oh wow, yes, I begun to find myself with the same "booking problem" a short time ago, with these crazy offers!!.... Very fortunately, I found too an accomodation 30 minutes by car from the Ice skating Arena.
Anyway I believe many nearby accomodations (big hotels etc) have been booked by skating teams, they would surely opted for the nearest place to the Arena.
Though I'm beginning to truly prepearing myself these days with the "tickets truth":palmf:....

Hello!
I was looking for some informations regarding tickets for 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics! I'm planning to be there (I hope many of you will be there too!), but I recently find out you have to be enrolled in a list to get the better tickets, hoping I still have time to get them...:rolleye: Anway, I wanted to ask you, what is the better place in the ice rink to see a pro performance? Should it be a central place, near the judges, or at one of the curves? I've never been to an important event like this one. Thanks in advance for your answers and advices!
Hello! I was lucky enough to get an early draw through the lottery so I just bought my tickets this morning. When you buy tickets you can’t choose your seats - you can only choose a category price (A,B,C,) and the number of seats you want. As has already been noted, the tickets are not cheap!

I managed to get tix for the Rhythm Dance in the cheapest category (C). From the site map, category C seats are located in the 4 corners of the 2nd tier. I also got tickets for the Free Dance, but all the “cheap” seats are sold out so I had to buy seats in the Category B, which are the 4 middle sections of the 2nd tier. It looks like only the most expensive seats, Category A, are all in the first tier closer to the ice, which is a shame!

I have no idea what row or section my seats are in - apparently you don’t find out until December this year, when your tickets will be available via their app! It seems like a crazy process… But it’s been a dream of mine to see Olympic figure skating so I’m just going with it!!

I definitely agree that going to see Worlds, Euros, 4CC, or Grand Prix is a cheaper way to see figure skating and get better seats as I’ve been to a few of those comps before and was able to pick my seats and pay much less :)

I've been given a slot for today and tomorrow, though we've decided against it. But I went to look out of interest.

Gala is showing from €400. No competitive event is showing anything less than €450. Some start at €550 or €750.

I wish I was into curling. Starts at €40 and chance of GB medals.

Hockey isn't bad. Starts at €30, as long as you are content with earlier rounds or women's matches - the men's latter stages and final are expensive.

Short Track is showing nothing below €260.

I actually like seats in the corner. I've had seats near the end of the judges long side, and there was a blind spot right in front of the judges that I could not see at all.

My favorite seats are on the end. You can see everything, including the ice coverage patterns. I prefer to see half of the "tricks" really well and half at a distance to having a mediocre view of everything!

If this was a competition where I was allowed to take photos, I'd be sad not to be closer to the ice, but I guess at the Olympics you're not allowed to, so it's fine. And binoculars or not, I know that as soon as I'll see Deanna and Max step on Olympic ice I will be in tears 😅😅
