Tickets to the Olympic qualifier in September?

Will it even be open to the public? It doesn't even say what arena it will be held at?

Since it was announced I was hoping to attend and maybe combine with a JGP, show my support to the skaters, help fill the stands, but it's getting a little late in the day now.

Maybe this Olympic qualifier has so much anticipation that tickets will go on sale at the last minute and every ticket will be sold out

I can't be the only one. There wouldn't thousands thinking of attending, but maybe hundreds, and it all helps fill the arena, makes it more exciting for the skaters rather than give away free tickets to people who have never watched it in their life who then let their kids run up and down the aisles all event .

It's great that the ISU changed their logo over the summer, but how do fans actually attend these events?

Is there any reason to expect it wouldn't be open to the public? I would assume an Oly qualifier of this caliber should be. Let me know when you find out. I have a business trip to Europe mid September. Perfect time. AI is telling me I can fit in a quick detour to China for a few days for a lot cheaper than I thought. Less than 1000 Euro everything included at the top end. I always wanted to wait for a RusNats visit. But I dont know if its worth risking. I have got to see Adeliia live. Making plans this late though is a big stretch.

Is there any information about tickets? We're 7 weeks out. China is not the easiest place to travel to, and not the easiest place buying tickets to an event. I'm trying my best to support this sport. No wonder so many events have a sea of empty seats.

Even something like "tickets will go on sale at x date", "prices will be as follow". Surely all of this was finalised months in advance.

Surely even people in China outside of Beijing want to attend, make plans in advance.

Maybe there's going to be some last minute decisions made if you understand me, they don't want people organising flights, accommodation, time off, buying tickets and then be really disappointed not seeing the skaters they hoped to .

At this point I'm not sure if it will be held in front of an audience, maybe there is some fear of the audience reaction if you understand me . Likely not broadcasted in any form.

No wonder the ISU booked a financial loss last year (although I understand the ISU is a CHF 300MM investment fund masquerading as a custodian of the sport ). I want to support their events but it is almost impossible! Shambolic! Imagine if Formula 1 or the tennis tours operated like this!

I would be quite surprised if the event is not streamed but it is possible live-attendance will not be widely commercial. I imagine they'll open the arena to locals as a smaller operation. I guess this event isn't supposed to be high level. Its a 2nd chance for standard athletes who regularly compete but didn't make the cut from a pretty large pool of athletes. The attraction for such an event isn't usually high. Very uncommon that you're going to get to see the best in the world here, not standard procedure to treat it like a major stage.

I am convinced tickets are a wrap for this event. If they don't miraculously drop in the next couple days its definitely too late for me, too. Booking plane tickets to Beijing on such short notice will likely get quite expensive especially with my already highly specific travel route. I guess we'll meet another day... but look on the bright side, at least by then a certain someone will be unbanned! Much more exciting!

I do very much hope they WILL open ticket sale and soon. I booked the plane and everything several months back, it would be a real shame to fly all the way to Beijing just to stand outside of the arena.

Don't you just hate that? It is incredibly rude and inconsiderate. A skating event is not a play area. Japan doesn't even allow babies and toddlers into major events. Wish every country did that.

LKHD had to rely on contacts in China to pass on information to him about the on sale date for tickets. If not for his post I still would have no idea whether spectators will even be allowed into the venue. This is completely unacceptable. No governing body that has been organising similar events for decades could be this incompetent? Surely not.

It's like you have to be part of this secret club to attend . What other sport does such a disservice to fans wanting attend an event, and the skaters as well who want to skate in front of big enthusiastic audiences not empty seats. On the official site still zero information for fans wanting to attend. Even in China there was no easily available information, fans called Chinese skating fed and asked about it. The Fed said that tickets will be on early September, with no dates. The actual date was revealed a day or two ago.
It’s very strange situation, and I had spend hours browsing for info in past months.
I wonder why ISU does this. Is it incompetence or does it have some reasoning?

I'm seriously curious how many tickets they will sell. Clandestinely released on a week's notice through some mysterious chinese ticket master. Local fans "phoned a friend" to solve the treasure hunt. Next time ISU should make it tougher hide the link on dark web. They must hate figure skating and are plotting against it. Enemies of the sport. I would have bought VIP seating for both of Adeliia's days easily. Instead they will be forced to give free seating to clueless ignorants. Its too bad internationals didnt think to ask around at esoteric book stores or ollivander's magic wand shop for ISU ticket details.
