17th Tirnavia Ice Cup | Oct 31 - Nov 2

Mark LYSYCHENKO (UKR) continued the trend of costumes that were mainly black, but with increasing amounts of a second colour. This time, the shoulders and upper back were red. I kinda made me think of a Star Trek uniform.

Except, this was no sci-fi programme. It was Chinese music. I don't know for sure, but it was like something out of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".

I enjoyed that. No noticeable mistakes.

And on that basis, I reckon he's won.

He wasn't messing about! He wins the FS by 17.81 points, and overall by 19.15 points!

@Walt FSHunter - I don't know whereabouts Mark is from, and hence if he is local to you. But he did you proud!

Resurfacing now. And the Juniors aren't due to start for another 40 minutes.

We're back. We stay with the boys, but move from the Advanced Novices to the Juniors.

And the opening group consists of 4 Slovaks, 1 Czech, and 1 Romanian.

Local skater from the Trnava club, Jakub ČURMA (SVK) was wearing all black. With a grey area on the lower right sleeve.

I am really kicking myself to remember what you call this instrumental piece. But, I didn't like this version of it.

Not a bad start to the competition.

Well, it was good up until the final seconds. He fell right before the end. It took him a whiel to get himself up, and then he wasn't sure what to do for the remaining few seconds until the music finished. So, he did a bit of armography.

He's understandably disappointed.

Niccolo BOERIS (SVK) was wearing a purple jumpsuit, with a circular orange pattern under his left oxter, and matching orange cuffs.

He was skating to an epic orchestral version of "7 Nation Army", followed by a piece that I don't know but that was really dramatic. (It sounded like it was from a fight scene in a film).

Can't say I was fussed on either piece of music. But the skating was good.

He goes into the lead of both the FS and overall.

The first of the non-Slovak skaters, Marian KLUS (CZE), was, according to his ISU Bio, skating to music from a whole pile of films. And all the pieces actually fitted well together.

He was wearing a jumpsuit that was white at the top, grey in the middle, and black at the bottom. But it wasn't one of those graduating designs, it was more like stripes.

He was good.

He goes into a massive lead (of just under 20 points) in both the FS and overall.

We may not know if he is Jozef's son, but that was a strange programme from Viliam SABOVČÍK (SVK).

He was wearing all black, and skating to very strange music.

Oops. The entire final element was after the music finished. So, there will be a deduction for that.

And it wasn't the only one. He got 4 points in deductions.

He goes into 4th and last position in both the FS and overall.

Dominik DRNZIK (SVK) was doing a "Zorro" programme. He was wearing all black, with a red material belt.

But where's the hat and mask?!

He is disappointed, and angry.

He goes into 2nd position ion both FS and overall

CaroLiza_fan

OK. We go from "Zorro" ot "La La Land".

Bit of a difference!

Răzvan CIONAC (ROU) was dressed up as a waiter.

It's not often you see a guy doing a "La La Land" programme that includes "Another Day Of Sun". But, that is what Răzvan finished his programme with.

He was enjoying himself.

He goes into 2nd position in the FS, and the lead overall.

A Frank Sinatra medley for Jan VALTERA (CZE). "Fly Me To The Moon" followed by "My Way". (Much as I like it, the latter song should be banned for all skaters who are not in their swansong season!)

He was wearing a blue shirt with white collar, black braces, and black trousers. I'm pretty sure I've seen Frank wearing something similar.

I think he forgot to stop spinning when doing his Sit Spin. He was spinning for ages, including for a good while after the music finished.

He goes into the lead of both the FS and overall.

Another blue shirt and black trousers combination. Except that Richard Alexander von GOELER (DEU)'s short was much darker.

Skating to "Ave Maria".

He fell on the first element, and the landings weren't great on most of his other jumps. And then he popped one towards the end.

Given that he was less than a point behind Jan VALTERA (CZE) in the SP, I can't see Richard staying ahead of him. There are big gaps either side of the guy currently in 2nd position overall, so he will probably slip into one of them.

Eh? He goes into the lead of both the FS and overall. I was not expecting that.

CaroLiza_fan

Now that was a shock. Matteo MARCHIONI (ITA) was dressed all in black. At the very start, we heard Darth Vader breathing. Yet, he was not skating to the "Imperial March". He was skating to a selection of other pieces from the "Star Wars" films.

That said, I loved the piano version of the "Main Theme" that was used.

A bit messy. But, the last guy was too, and he went into the lead. So, I don't know.

He does go into the lead of both the FS and overall. By a large margin in each case.

Sorry, my Mum was doing something on the computer. So, I wasn't able to comment.

First of the Sheiko brothers, Kirill, was doing a "Count Of Monte Cristo" programme, and wearing a costume from that era that was mainly dark green / black, but had white feathery bits in various places. One cuff was white and the other cuff was black.

He was really good.

It was so funny afterwards. The older brother, Nikita, was wandering around waiting for his turn. But, he didn't sit down with Kirill. So, Mum Julia Shapiro was having to run back and forth between them!

Kirill went into the lead of both FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Dmitry RUDENKO (SVK) was wearing black trousers and a typical figure skating black / grey / white messy looking design top.

He was skating to "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

I'm pretty sure that Kirill SHEIKO (ISR) will remain in the lead.

Yep. Dmitry went into 2nd position in both the FS and overall.

With the lead Nikita had after the SP, it's looking like a Sheiko 1-2.

CaroLiza_fan

Or maybe not...

That was a very messy skate for Nikita SHEIKO (ISR). He was on his backside a few times.

Just Mum sitting with him. Kirill is not about.

Nikita should still comfortably win overall. But, I bet you his brother has won the FS.

And that is exactly what has happened.

Oh, I just realised, the Senior cacti aren't on until the top of the hour.

So another long break between competitions.

CaroLiza_fan

We now complete our triple bill of Men's FS competitions with a group of four Senior cacti. 🌵
