2026 Canadian Nationals: General Info and Pregame Chat

I'd go SMD since she's been more consistent with the short and that's where they would need the stronger short skater to qualify for the free
That's what I felt as well

Robert Brodie has a pre-Nationals article:

He doesn't have information on what short program Maddie will skate other than it not being Black Swan. Also he mentions that Minsol isn't cleared for international competition yet.

Robert Brodie has some updates from Nationals:

Trennt was diagnosed with shingles before Finlandia :eek2: Also confirmed that Maddie will use Lion King at Nationals but won't be able to use it in Milan.

Shingles is what happens when you get chicken pox as a child. It develops in times of extreme stress, usually when you are older, but not always. If you get treatment right away, things go better. My son had it in his forties.

The surprise is that Trennt had chicken pox as a child.

Shingles are a mean thing and can cause chronic nerve pain...my boyfriend had it a few years ago and he said the pain was quite something. I think this explains a bit why they placed that low.
I had shingles spiralling down one leg from hip to ankle. The pain was excruciating. Whatever I was prescribed for it worked in a few days, but I was marooned in the house because I couldn't stand to put clothes on over the leg. There's a vaccine for it, but unfortunately I'm allergic to one of the ingredients in it, so I just have to hope I never get it again.

I can't believe he skated with shingles. He has my total respect.
yeah and it's another humbling lessons for us fans... I think his jumps were off that weekend... Lia was a boss and we fans, were saying " what's going on with Trennt... he can no longer jump".

Well, there are a lot of things people cannot do when they have shingles. The fact that he competed at all is like a miracle.

Pre-Nationals interview with Katherine, she has a lumpectomy at the end of August and had vertigo as well. She was only able to practice spins again two weeks ago. Hopefully she's able to have a good Nationals after her health issues this season.

They also interview Dion/Cote after their medal win.
