2026-27 U.S. Pairs Figure Skating

I am interested in how these new USA partnerships formed and came about too. Hopefully with as little acrimony and hurt feelings as well. But I'm more interested in these teams' progress and development. Which pair teams will be on the podium in 2027? Right now I have no clue.

A question - the funding level wise - is there any difference between A1 and A2? I noticed that Alisa/Misha are in A2 according to the USFS website.
Thanks in advance!

A1 is the highest funding level, no idea how much of a difference there is between the two for the athletes, but there is one.

Was looking at Skate Milwaukee list, so Oh/Chapa split, and Oh/Felberbaum are a new team. I thought Felberbaum had retired, good to see he's sticking around.

Results from Junior Pairs @2026 Skate Milwaukee - I think I might adopt these two teams🤔:love4:

I mean, it's US juniors and US pairs, so any adoptions are at your own peril.
But they are baby pairs...they are cute and wobble a lot cause their heads are too big for their tiny bodies. I just enjoy them and wait to see what happens when they grow... It's because I adopted Tai & Randy at 13 &15, I can't help myself.

Plazas and Fernandez have been posting on IG about their pairs camp trip to Hungary. Noticed in some of the videos that McBeath and Nagy were there as well. Not sure who else if anyone else from the US was there, but it did sound like USFSA sent/paid for some to attend.

The food looks delicious :)

Deanna and Danylo are there too. Looks like this is getting serious. But good for them that they got the chance to go there. I hope this is a sign that USFS is supportive of this partnership.

I wondered if they were there because it looked like them in the background of one of the videos but I couldn't make it out real well.

How long has this potential partnership been active? Does anyone know? I guess they're keeping on the down-low, like most of the new U.S. pairings. McBeath/Nagy have never even publicly announced their partnership.

I guess this thread should be on my notification list because I see there have been postings and news here that I've only recently learned about. I don't get to visit IG a lot, especially recently. There really needs to be a kind of news outlet for all the random skating news updates (the former IceNetwork* was ideal). It's hard to keep up with all the disparate updates.

Why on earth would USfed not be supportive of Deanna & Danylo partnering? The very fact they are included in this overseas workshop with Savin & Klimov means they are being encouraged. **Some of the teams** at this workshop must not have been at the recent pairs camp in the U.S. with Savin & Klimov. I'm sure USfed is paying this coaching duo well for their time and expertise.

** Edited for accuracy **

*In my opinion, USfigsk is so shortsighted. If they did not want to continue spending time and money on the IceNetwork platform, they should have found someone else capable and interested, possibly among fs fandom. It was an invaluable platform.

Even tho' the recent envelope funding list does not officially include the new U.S. pairs teams, there must be some other way that U.S. fed is providing a modicum of monetary assistance to these new teams. And once the season gets underway and results begin to show, surely some of these teams will be slotted in to the official funding list. While some teams pair up on their own (e.g. Sarah Nunez & Blake Eisenach*), I think the pairs officials in USfigsk had a lot of involvement in the off-season musical chairs partner switches.

In my estimation, there's a lot of exciting potential happening under-the-radar with the U.S. pairs discipline. But it's all being kept fairly muted and on the down-low. I suppose par for the course in how U.S. pairs have tended to be dismissed and looked down on in the skating community, despite some record-setting stats, along with an historic legacy and some influentual teams over the years.

*Apparently, Nunez is a former U.S. singles skater. Blake, of course, formerly skated in junior pairs, and he was briefly partnered with Megan Wessenberg in seniors. He has gone back-and-forth from pursuing a show career to dabbling with potential new pairs partnerships. Will this current effort last? Both Blake and Nunez are in their mid-to-late 20s. They are training in Chicago area with the Knierims/ LeDuc coaching team.

We need a palate cleanser re current U.S. pairings...
