Am I the only one who found the sparkles on Marchei's tights distracting? Didn't really fit with the rest of the sultry look, IMO. But decent skate. She's an adult so she can pull off the sexy vibe.

Actually, we don't know that. I think it's possible she would have. I think it's amazing that she managed to recover from the utter disasterous performance yesterday and then do so well today. Shows true, true grit.

Well, I think Mao tends to skate better in the long when she comes from behind. But it was the first time she was so low after the short and was in the position where she had nothing to lose, and could give it all. True, she can deliver two great skates in the same competition, but she would usually appear really nervous and cautious in the long after a great SP, IMO.

Only one I watched so far was Mao Asada. I have it on in the background at work.

All I can say is wow to Mao. I never expected that free skate from her, especially after her disaster of a short program. She did amazing. How heartbreaking for her to know she has such a long shot for a medal when she nailed the free skate so well.

She just said that Aikiko was close the edges of the rink because it's a security blanket thing. NO, it's because rinks in Japan are larger than everywhere else which is one of the reasons why Midori Ito fell out of the rink back in the day.

And she said that ALL Canadian girls want to figure skate while the boys want to play hockey. Well...my daughter goes to school in Canada and tells me that ALL of HER Canadian friends (male AND female) scoff at figure skating and even figure skates for casual skating - and are only interested in hockey. Maybe the truth is somewhere in between, but Tara basically is just full of it, man!

Polina has great jumps and I hate to be rude but she looks like she's at a public skate for the in between stuff.

Polina really is all arms and legs at this point. So impressive she has the control that she does. If she can maintain that through puberty she really will be a stunner.
