2014 Olympics Ladies Free Skate

Sorry... but this has been maybe the worst crowd ever. Their cheering at the perceived mistake by Yu-Na and then the rude chanting before Yu-Na had even gotten her scores confirm that to me.

Figure Skating events should never be held in Russia ever again.

No, Johnny, they're not knowledgeable, they just love everything Russian and are rude at every other point.

Good Riddance Sochi. Russia should never get another Olympics again.

Adelina's PCS, and Yulia's scoring were jokes.

Yuna was robbed plain and simple, starting with the SP, where she should have had at least 5 points advantage over Adelina.

Yuna gave EVERYTHING she had at these Olympics. 100%. Two perfect programs. Anywhere else in the world, she would have won gold.

I am happy that Yuna will be leaving with no regrets, but absolutely sickened by this blatant politicking.

And this was the last for Yuna too... I'm sooooooo sickened.....

What I really can't stand is that it was an AMAZING competition, and still most of the talk will be about the controversy.

I really like Adelina and she was fantastic, I don't want the controversy to tarnish her reputation nor shake her nerves in the future, I don't want her to retire yet, because she can improve.

Mad RESPECT for Yu-na, she nailed it under pressure, she's so rock solid, I appreciate her more and more. I hope she won't be too disappointed/bitter, and that she'll do what she wants to do in the future

Mad RESPECT for Carolina Kostner, she went CLEAN for the first time in ages, she is so classy, she didn't even shove off haters

Mao was SPECIAL, such a fighter, and was positively lowballed at least in PCS. Maybe she'll remain with a "what if...", but frankly, she deserves respect.

Gold and Wagner were remarkably good.

Lipnitskaya, poor girl, four skates in a row were too much, media pressure was too much. I hope she'll be able to develop at her own pace.

And yet, there will be scandal and controversy and bitterness and I think I'll run to the anti-drama bunker

I'm feeling the same. This was great competition. Kim,Sotnikova,Kostner and Asada really skated great. I'm so happy for them. Especially for Kostner because this was her last chance for olympic medal. Hopefully Kim can come back for 2018, because her jumping is so good. If Kostner can land those jumps age of 27, she can too.

I think I will give gold medal to Yu-Na even with one less triple and avarage spins but overall I'm happy because I'm loving almost all skaters out there and they skated really good.

Wow... I really have no words ... Seriously.... And I still defended all of those judges in other programs, believing that they were somehow right ... Adelina was definitely not worth the gold... this was just disgusting. Yuna should have been the 1'st, it was obvious. Her skating was just flawless today and I'm no fan of her. Our commentators were already calling her the winner and congratulating her before the scores and then the *** moment happened. I think this is one of the biggest *** moments in my whole life.
I'm just happy for Mao, I liked her performance the best and honestly it was the most touching one I have ever seen :) What a shame about her sp ...

No.

I'm going to stop you right there. You do not get to say crap like that.

You have been not just one of the worst haters, you have been THE worst hater of Sotnikova.

We can't even count the number of times you've called her a headcase and said disparaging things about her. Adelina essentially just told all her haters - including you, sky_fly - to shove it with a gold-winning performance (or at least a performance worthy of the podium).

Stop trying to pretend like you haven't been one of her biggest haters, all along. None of us are buying that. :rolleye::rolleye::rolleye:

+1,000,000

Seeing sky_fly turning 360 percent in a day just remind me of our politician who always try to stick with winning size.

HOW IN THE WORLD did Adelina score a 149 for that program (1 pt short of Kim Yuna's Vancouver LP scores)???

As soon as I saw the 149 I KNEW they were handing Adelina the gold.

This is disgraceful and disgusting. Screw you, Russia. May S. Korea come for your ###### in 2018.

So pissed right now.

Being biased allows you to do that.

To the poster following... Mao has a clear wrong edge take-off on her Lutz and she was lucky the panel didn't ding her for a few URs (I think in that way, she benefitted from skating early - they may not have been so kind if she was in the final group). She's also wildly inconsistent. I'm baffled how people like CanadianSkaterGuy can call Sotnikova a headcase when Mao's career is filled with choke moments.

Mao's last spin was wonky as hell. I'm surprised they gave her the Camel position.

Do you people actually follow the sport, or only watch it and troll about it on internet forums?

Do you realize that with 3-4 points less PCS she would have still won? PCS isn't why she beat Kim. Kim won PCS. Kim Lost to Sotnikova because the latter gave a clinic on brilliant jumping and spinning and hit all her levels.

When will you people stop bitching about PCS and realize that Kim LOST to Sotnikova because she couldn't manage to get her Triple Loop consistent and was down a triple, and had Worse Spins and lower level footwork?

I'm not bitching.
And I'm fine with Adelina winning the OGM on technical score. You're just not gonna convince me that her PCS are better than, say, Kostners, or 'only' 0.09 worse than Yuna's. But we can simply agree to disagree on that and move on :)

AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! disgusting judging and crowd

?

Don't forget the short program. Her total PCS for both programs has gone up 7 points in a month. Similar PCS at the Olympics would have had her fighting Carolina for the silver.

Figure skating is one dirty sport, I really need to get over my love for it, just not worth it anymore.

I felt that way, way back when. No matter in what country the Olympics are held, there is going to be controversy and somebody waz robbed. This is a judged sport and yes a dirty sport, even worst in the 6.0 system of judging. Say for example if this event was in the US, this would also be going on. This secret judging system is rotten to,the core and he judges have their favorite. Two skaters can do the exact same jump and one gets scored higher than the other. Go figure.

Skating in every discipline outside of ice dance has been extraordinarily disappointing. The ISU needs to reevaluate how they can prevent biased judging. Is it viable for them to do what gymnastics does and only use judges from countries that are not competing?

All that aside, how do you put someone on ignore? I've only been on this forum for a few weeks and sky fly is literally the most annoying brain dead person I've ever encountered on any forum I've joined. ever.

Hopefully will have time to watch NBC coverage tonight and see how Scott/Sandra justify this win, if they do at all. Only thing that may have held Yuna back was the lack of that triple and the fact that her programs just weren't compelling in the same way as they were 4 years ago. Also, I agree that her not competing much and having scores for the judges to track her against hurt her.

It is hard because the 3 top skaters were deficient in different ways. Sotnikova had all those jumps but the skating is coarse. Kim has those perfect positions and extension but was a little flat. Carolina got through it, it was beautiful but cautious like Kim. And, not so much athletic skill as S. So, all feels a little muttled.

Kim was 9 points lower than Vancouver. No one can expect to stay on the top when their scores are coming down.

As for Gracie and Americans. Davis and White have shown the way. You must have passion about improving yourself and the sport. And, tolerance for highly detailed work - day in day out. Just trying to squeeze a few more points out of your program won´t work. The skating 4 years from now will be totally evolved. If half the field now has 3-3 combination the winners in 2018 will have to have quads and multiple 3-3´s. Like Davis and White they will have to study the forms - dance styles, esthetics - of the material they persent. A few Egyptian hand movements and eyeliner won´t cut it (sorry Kaitlan ;););)).
