2014 Olympics Ladies Free Skate

The way I see it, the only purpose of that sky_fly20 post, some of you have responded to, was to piss you off. And because you're replying, you're giving them what they wanted. I can understand your frustration but you're only giving them more ammunition.

What I don't get is why people don't use the ignore list. It is like they WANT to get riled up over these posts.

At first I was absolutely shocked that Yuna didn't win. I thought it was done after her skate. She had it. But Adelinas score had been huge. Julias score had been huge (like in the short much too high). So Russia really wanted that medal. I don't know, now two hours later I still think Yuna should have won, but Adelina was amazing technically. But she had a mistake! as well and got such a record score, it felt weird. Caro was so happy, I think she is absolutely in heaven, having this bronze. I also feel bad for critizising Adelina. She doesn't deserve the hatred that is now raining down on her. I think actually, if she continues skating, which I'm sure she will, she will have it much harder now. But that Russian Crowd, gee, no matter what people say I hated them. It was like a Hockey Game and it was disgusting how they behaved. For the people who think that Yuna is ok with the Silver I strongly disagree. The stream I watched stayed with the medalists until they left the rink. Yuna is often hard to read, but tonight her face was screaming disappointment. In the last second when she rushed out of the rink she was close to tears. I feel really bad for her having two clean skates and then this.

One more shoutout to the amazing Mao who actually managed 3rd in the FS! What a comeback, what a competitor! I doubted her but she delivered. Please grab the World Title in Japan now, Mao!

I usually leave shortly after an event but now that I needed time to take it in, a few thoughts on the ladies:
Congrats to Adelina on winning the OGM. I thought she was solid and skated with fire. Hope she doesn't retire.
Congrats to Yuna for keeping it clean despite the hostile crowd. No matter what happened, she will be considered one of the greatest skaters in the COP era. Happy retirement!
Congrats to Carolina for keeping it together. After the last 2 Olympics, she finally pulled through 2 of the most beautiful programs I've seen in a while. Happy retirement!
Congrats to Mao for the epic comeback! 4 years ago, I wasn't a fan of Mao but she really grew on me during this quad. It's very inspiring to watch her jump 10 spots from 16 to 6. Please compete in Worlds!
Props to the American women. Ashley actually pulled it off returning to S&D. Gracie is such a charmer. Polina is a jumping bean. 2018 will be their revenge!
I'm going to miss Akiko!
Julia is beautiful to watch when she's clean. Hope she takes the last 48 hours and use it as motivation for the Worlds. She's got a bright future along with Adelina.

However, I will say a few things... the behavior of certain people on this board (especially one person) is disgusting. You are worse that the nationalistic crowd in the Iceberg. It's one thing to have a different opinion and different tastes, but the insults throughout the Olympics crossed the line. Even if most people blocked the posts, it's beyond classless and immature to see this. I don't care if I get reported for this but the haters, take your crap elsewhere. You are ruining the fun for everyone else.

It was fun to come back to Golden Skate for the Olympics. It's time to return to lurker mode. Maybe in 4 years, I'll be in Mommy Duty. LOL
High five, bro:clap:

Thank you for all your fun posts during the competitions AND Sonja Henie. I've enjoyed reading your posts.

I've enjoyed your posts! ARipp42014! I really hope you consider not being such a lurker...I think you would be fun in the non-Olympic years too. :)

Maybe I'll reconsider. I tried to get into posting during this quad but couldn't because of the constant crashing.

Ah I should post this one more time for poops and giggles:

Well one positive is that that most everyone in the top 10 turned in solid performances and we saw several new personal bests. Way better than the mess that was the men.

Yuna was outright cheated. She should have been either 1st or a very close 2nd behind Carolina. The reaction to her scratchy 3Lz was inexcusable. All this time I'd been thinking "maybe the crowd is just being encouraging after a mistake." Nope.

Mao "managed" 3rd in the FS but really deserved 1st. Oh well. On to Worlds, and hoping she can grab the most WC titles (3) of anyone in her era!

Kim better practice her 3 loops first
Just you wait. Kim will not only practice her 3 loops, but she will show up to Pyeongchang with a 3Lz-3Lo and a renewed 2A-3T, capturing her long-awaited 2nd Olympic gold in miraculous fashion.

Kim was very clearly extremely disappointed and unhappy and she didn't even particularly try to hide it.

+1,000,000

Seeing sky_fly turning 360 percent in a day just remind me of our politician who always try to stick with winning size.

The funniest thing is, this started right after the short program when sky_fly realised Julia was essentially out of the gold medal picture, and then switched allegiances.

I wonder if sky_fly is still a Gold fan after she didn't even medal and placed 5th in the FS.

Meh. I've commented at previous competitions that Adelina's programs this season are terrible. My opinion didn't change when Adelina was struggling on the GP nor with her Olympic performances. The programs are bad. The choreography is bizarre. That's it.
You are entitled to your opinion, and so am I (sorry, not a native English speaker). I just want to say, while many of you think Adelina's programs is bad, there are people out there do think she deserves it. I live in East Asia, in my country there has never been snow, only typhoon, lol, so watching these event is like a dream because it would never happen in my country. That's why I do believe I am neutral enough about this matter. Of course, it's just my opinion. It's just your reasons for bashing Adelina's program are not enough to convince me. That's all.

I only have 1 allegiance ;)
and I will stick with it

Gracie has a bright future ahead of her

I guess it's time for me to stop following women's figure skating. With Yuna/Mao gone there isn't really anyone else for me to follow.

I was worried that I have no one to support for the next 4 years but I don't think I will need to find one given what happened today. It was great following the sport but think I will stick to only watching Men's now as I at least have Yuzuru Hanyu to look forward to.

Seriously how the hell does Sotnikova gain +15 GOE but yuna gets only like +13...

Just a suggestion, you think Korea will give Yuna a platinum medal just like Russia wanted to give Plushy one after his loss to Evan?

wouldn't that cause injury ?
her loop is her weakest jump

just as flip is Gracie's
or Maos 2loops or Sotnikova's flips

From Christine Brennan:

Judge No. 2 tonite, Yuri Balkov of UKR, suspended for a year for trying to fix 1998 Olympic ice dancing. Really.

I thought she said she was going to retire after this? But truly, I am not a fan of Kim's techniques.
