Hey, I just realised. If I had been going to Sheffield later in the week, I would have been working at the desktop PC today, re-installing Windows and everything else, so that I could take the laptop with me and my parents could try to use the desktop while I was away (the desktop has been very slow and temperamental for months now, which is why we have been using the laptop).

Imagine if the electricity had went off while in the middle of doing that!

Maybe this is a sign that it is better that I am not going.

Still heartbroken that it didn't work out, though. I really wanted to see my girls in real life.

The stream for Day 2 of the August Qualifier has just come on air and first up is the last of the Pairs competitions, the Junior FS.

Although we are starting earlier today, the running order is largely the same as yesterday. The only difference is that we have lost Basic Novice Pairs at the start of the day, but gained Basic Novice Men at the end of the day.

Well, we did. It cut off in the middle of the Warm-Up.

So it appears to be an intentional decision to broadcast with no sound, rather than a technical issue.

I can understand the organisers not wanting to attract the attention of the copyright police, but it really does spoil the enjoyment of watching the programmes. Interpreting the music is part of the scoring, and we can't tell if the skaters are doing it well unless we can hear the music.

Day 3, the final day of the August Qualifier before the Robin Cousins Cup takes over tomorrow, is starting now. Apart from 1 boy, it is all girls in action today. We start with a rather large Basic Novice Ladies FS, followed by all the Pre-Novice competitions.

That said, 4 of the Basic Novice girls are already down as withdrawals. But so far none of the Pre-Novices have withdrawn.

Day 4 in Sheffield, and now that the qualifying for the British Championships is over, it is time for the intermational part of the event to begin.

And much to my relief, there are livestreams for the Robin Cousins Cup!!!

But, please be aware that they are on a different YouTube channel to what we have been using so far this week.

The domestic competitions weren't archived, so I don't know if the international competitions are going to be archived. But I am going to be watching LIVE anyway, just in case.

Never mind, I can see them. I'm hopping between the two competitions because so many this week are at impossible hours for me so I am getting what I can.

I have to say, I love the music playing during the Warm-Up - Dean Martin's "That's Amore", followed by "Chain Reaction" (I think it is Steps' cover, rather than Diana Ross' original).

It's hard because the camera is further away than we're used to, but the costumes here to do enhance their program (shades of that discussion on The Edge), from the extra distance they seem rather meh.

Not sure a song with the lyrics "crash, bam, Alacazam" is really what you want to be skating to any figure skating category, never mind Pairs skating. It's really tempting fate!

But, it worked. Really well. And they got through it unscathed.

An enjoyable start to the international part of the event.

Hey, the Meeks may be from the same family, but they don't spin in the same direction.

I'm torn. When you look at it from the left hand side, Juliet's dress is beautiful. But then you see it from the other side. The yellow section that goes over her right shoulder really spoils the look.

Has Zarah grown? There seems to be less of a height difference than I remember.

"Mambo #5". This will be fun!

Writing on the TES box is too small to read.

They almost ran out of space in the corner after the lift.

If I am totally honest, it does need a bit of polishing. But, it's the first competition of the season. You expect that.

Once it is polished, I think this is going to be a good programme for them.
