Awww, thanks.

She did really well. Makes it even more annoying that the streaming issues yesterday meant that we didn't get to see her SP.

No doubt about it, when she reaches Seniors, she will be the top British Ladies skater. It's just a pity that we have to wait a few years, due to her being is so young. Because we could do with her now!

Anyway, time now to start a boys double-bill. 5 Juniors; followed by a resurfacing; followed by 9 Seniors.

That didn't take long. And that's it for the Juniors. We now start a Senior FS double-bill, which will complete the ISU part of the event. 9 boys; followed by a resurfacing; followed by 8 girls.

What a reaction from the penultimate skater, Andre ZAPATA (ESP) when he found out that he had gone into the lead!

Imagine what it would have been like if he had been the last to skate, and hence knew there and then that he had won.

Actually, Andre stayed on to sit with the final skater, Pablo GARCIA (ESP). Pablo went into 3rd position overall, and I thought it very classy of Andre that he didn't get all excited again when it became clear that he had won. He just gave a polite round of applause for Pablo's scores. And then Pablo gave him a big hug.

Right, time to finish the ISU part of the event with the Senior girls. 8 of them, arranged into two groups of 4.

The completion of the Senior Ladies FS marks the end of the ISU part of the event. The rest of the Daugava Cup is in the Interclub part of the event.

And tonight, we complete the Advanced Novice competitions. 11 older girls, followed by 8 boys. No resurfacings.

I'm going to be leaving to eat in about 15 minutes time, and won't be back before the skating finishes. So since the streams are getting archived, I am not going to start watching the girls FS at all. Instead, I will go back to watching Group 2 of their SP, which I haven't actually finished yet.

So, all the best to all the skaters that I will miss.

As I said last night, the rest of the Daugava Cup is in the Interclub part of the event. Day 2 starts with a Cubs girls double-bill, with 22 girls born in 2016; followed by 10 girls born in 2015 (makes you feel old, doesn't it?)

The stream is accessed via the same ViSport page as yesterday:

https://daugavaopencup.com/stream/index.php

I'm afraid that I will not be able to watch today. Due to the stupid schedule that the F1 has on Sprint weekends, where the Sprint Race is held before the Qualifying for the Feature Race, I am not able to watch the Qualifying LIVE in an hour's time because the commentators will be giving away spoilers as to what happened in the Sprint Race that was held while I was asleep.

Consequently, I will have to watch the repeats of both later in the day. Except that Sky's scheduling of them is not conducinve to watching a day of skating as well. So, I will take the opportunity to catch up on things I missed the past few days in between instead. Such as the Advanced Novice FS segments that were held last night.

Hope this helps

Alice goes to Triglav trophy in April next, trying to rack up some ranking points, I guess... good tactic if you ask me

The final day of the Daugava Cup begins now with a Chicks double-bill. 17 C girls, followed by 28 B girls.

The stream is accessed via the same ViSport page as yesterday:

https://daugavaopencup.com/stream/index.php

Due to watching the Formula 1 race from China LIVE, I will not be joining until later on. Which is unfortunate, as I have a kid in Chicks B that will be skating right in the middle of the race. But, Sky are so slow at putting the F1 broadcasts up on their on demand service that you really have no option but to watch LIVE.

But, at least the re-wind facility on the ViSport stream has been working the past couple of days. So, I can wind back to watch Alina.

Hope this helps

Safety car period in the F1 race is just ending, so I am taking the opportunity to put this placeholder up at the start of the Chicks B Group 1 Warm-Up rather than at the end of it.

I love the way they are presenting the skaters in the middle of the ice! The only problem is that, with it being dark when they are getting into position, the wee girls are not judging the spacing very well. Consquently, there is plenty of space between the first few skaters, and then after that they are practically on top of each other, with barely enough room to swing their arms when they are taking their bows.

Well, Alina will definitely be easy to spot. Not just because I recognise the Amathusia club jacket, but because she is by some distance the tallest skater in the group. (She has really shot up in the past year! She was tiny when I last saw her last May).

Shortly after the Warm-Up started, we saw her cross the shot in the foreground, and then saw her cross back again in the background. When she was in the background, it looked like she was doing the backstroke with her arms. She then crossed again in the foreground, and it looked like she was going to stop in the middle of the shot and do something, but she changed her mind and carried on out of shot.

When she came back into shot, she did stop. And she did a beautiful combination spin. She then started heading aback where she came from, but then did a u-turn, and circled around. There was one point when she was heading backwards towards the camera that I thought her blades were going to give way and she would do the splits, but she recovered, and headed out of shot.

When the clock said there was 2m 15s to go, Alina came back into shot, and circled around, but had to swerve to avoid a little Latvian girl who was doing a spin right in her path (it was actually the girl who would be skating directly before her). But, she kept up the speed until she went out of shot.

She then briefly came back into shot a couple of times, and the second time attempted to do a jump, but she didn't really have enough space because two skaters went by her. So, it didn't work out well. When she came back into shot, she came backwards towards the camera, giving us a very good view of the back of her jacket with "CYPRUS" written on it in big letters.

When the clock said there was 1m 20s to go, she nearly had a collision with the same little Latvian girl she had to swerve around earlier. This time, Alina was minding her own business and the Latvian girl came gliding along with her leg up against her face, blocking her view, and only spotted Alina at the last moment when she put her leg down. Alina then circled around, coming very close to the camera, and went out of shot.

When the clock said there was 1 minuteto go, she did a jump. It was alright. She went out of shot, and then came back in and had another go. And this one was a bit better. She then left the shot when the 1 minute warning was given... which was when the clock said 40s to go!

About 10s later, she briefly came back into shot doing part of her Step Sequence. But that was the last we saw of her.

Right, now Alina has a wait of about 25 minutes until it is her turn to skate.

Now for the first of three skaters from Cyprus who are in action today. All of whom belong to the Amathusia club in Limassol.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ALINA!!! :cheer:

Placeholder for comment about ALINA MAKHMUTOVA (CYP).

Alina is wearing a peach dress with a dark bluey-grey patten. And a white lacey ribbon around her bun.

This music sounds interesting. I'm not sure whose work it is, but it is definitely Russian classical music.

First jump fine.

Combination jump alright too.

Step Sequence good.

Combination Spin beautiful, until she was coming out of it, and she lost her balance. But, she managed to find it and avoid a fall.

Next combination jump not bad.

And the same for the individual jump after it.

Sit Spin beautiful.

And down on one knee for the finishing position.

Her spins are definitely better than her jumps. But, she is very young. The jumps will improve with time, as she gets older and more experienced.

Awwww. Alina is sitting with a teddy bear on each leg, and her coach is holding a bunch of flowers. Alina does a hand heart to us, and blows us a kiss! 😗

She goes into the lead.

She can't believe it! She turns around to her coach, who gives her a big hug and kiss.

I wonder if that is her mother. I was going to say she looks far too young, but then I remembered the age of these skaters.

:cheer: WELL DONE ALINA!!! :cheer:

Adverts are on in the post-race coverage, so I came over to check how my kid got on.

:cheer: ALINA WON THE CHICKS B FREE SKATE AND THE 🥇 GOLD MEDAL!!! :cheer:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Absolutely delighted for her.

I said it last year after seeing her 🥉 Bronze Medal winning programme from the Volvo Open Cup, but I'll say it again. This little girl is going to be somebody to keep an eye on.

:cheer: WELL DONE ALINA!!! :cheer:

Now that the F1 coverage is over, I am joining LIVE just in time for Group 2 of the Junior B skaters.

We've already had a group of 5 girls - 2 Finns and 3 Latvians. But this is an all Latvian combined group. 5 girls and 1 boy.

CaroLiza_fan

Really enjoyed this instrumental version of Michael Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us" that Veronika OHREMCUKA (LAT) was skating to.

Her black dress is gorgeous.

And the skating was good too!

We just saw Lilite Domenika ZALESKA (LAT) take the lead wearing a white dress.

So which will lead going forward - Black Or White? (Yes, I couldn't resist another Michael Jackson reference!)

It's black. Veronika goes into the lead.

CaroLiza_fan

We finish the girls competition with two skaters from the host Kaskads club.

The first of them, Aleksandra SHTUKATUROVA (LAT), is also wearing a gorgeous black dress.

She was skating to Nina Simone's cover of "I Put A Spell On You". But, there were some weird noises towards the end of the programme. I think it was teh microphones picking up something from the arena, rather than something on the music.

Unfortunately, she made a few mistakes.

She goes into 5th position.

CaroLiza_fan

The final girl, Ksenija FEIGMANE (LAT), was wearing a beautiful deep red dress with silver pattern. And doing an 💃 Olè programme.

Thankfully, it went a lot better than her team-mate before her.

I enjoyed that.

She finishes in 5th position.

CaroLiza_fan

The only boy, Vincents GOLDMANIS (LAT) is wearing a purple top and black trousers.

He is skating to a dark and haunting instrumental piece.

Unfortunately, he did have a fall near the end. But, on the whole, I enjoyed it.

He looks thoroughly fed up waiting for his scores.

But he wins. Obviously.

CaroLiza_fan

A Pre-Chicks double-bill now. A group of 11 B girls; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 9 C girls.

They are so tiny! The ice doesn't even look crowded!

CaroLiza_fan

The first wee girl, from Estonia, is doing a "Lion King" programme. And for a change it is the original version of "The Circle Of Life", from the animated film rather than the version from the stage show. But the weird noises are continuing.

She got so far, and then went over to the panel. I don't know if it was about the audio, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Right, after a long pause, we are having another go.

CaroLiza_fan

They sorted it!!! The weird noises have ended!!!

And that was a really good programme too!

The little girl looks so cute in her lion-coloured costume, and brown cats ears.

She has a team-mate following her, so another little girl is sitting with her instead of a coach.
