The winner needs to be Staniouta for the security of the sport.

I think there's more chance of Russia losing a medal in the group competition than in the Individual AA, though, I heard of predictions with Yana in second place and no other Russian on the podium, but they are not really popular.

Don't know about the "security" of the sport. Russia puts way too much money on it for them to cut it out of the Olympics.

FIG rhythmic has personal best/season best and world ranking points like figure skating

World Ranking: Points are accumulated every World Cup competition placements !!!
-> http://www.fig-gymnastics.com/site/page/view?id=262

Some Facts:

like ISU , FIG only recognizes official scores from World Championships, Contitnental (European, Asian Championships), World Cup and Grand Prix competitions
Rhythmic Gymnastics has a Grand Prix Final like Figure Skating

The Highest 2016 Seasons Best All-around scores per gymnast:
2 Gymnast per country rule, the red are not going to Olympics :ddevil:
it should be three like in FS or Swimming / Athletics !!!! :furious:

Qualifications at last Years Worlds and Rio Test event for Olympics has ended
ONLY Russia and Belarus have qualified 2 spots !!!

LIST OF 2016 SEASONS BEST UNDER 70+ MARK !
1 Margarita Mamun (RUS) - 77.100 (Brno Grand Prix)
2 Yana Kudryavtseva (RUS) - 76.450 (Pesaro World Cup)

3 Aleksandra Soldatova (RUS) - 75.650 (Lisbon World Cup)
4 Melitina Staniouta (BLR) - 74.600 (Brno Grand Prix)
5 Ganna Rizatdinova (UKR) - 74.550 (Pesaro World Cup)
6 Son Yeon Jae - (KOR) 73.900 (Pesaro World Cup)

7 Arina Averina (RUS) - 73.600 (Bucharest Grand Prix)
8 Dina Averina (RUS) - 73.500 (Pesaro World Cup)

9 Salome Pazhava (GEO) - 72.850 (Bucharest Grand Prix)
10 Katsiaryna Halkina (BLR) - 72.700 (Bucharest Grand Prix)

11 Victoria Filanovsky (ISR) - 72.100 (Brno Grand Prix)
12 Linoy Ashram (ISR) - 71.800 (Tashkent World Cup)

12 Kseniya Moustafaeva (FRA) - 71.700 (Pesaro World Cup)
13 Elizaveta Nazarenkova (UZB) - 71.450 (Asian Championships)
14 Neta Rivkin (ISR) - 71.350 (Tashkent World Cup)

15 Karina Kuznetsova (RUS) - 71.200 (Tashkent World Cup)
16 Veronica Bertolini (ITA) - 70.900 (Pesaro World Cup)
17 Ana Luiza Filorianu (ROU) - 70.750 (Bucharest Grand Prix)
18 Nicol Ruprecht (AUT) - 70.550 (Brno Grand Prix)
19 Neviana Vladinova (BUL) - 70.550 (Lisbon World Cup)
20 Sabina Ashirbayeva (KAZ) - 70.500 (Asian Championships)
21 Laura Zeng (USA) - 70.150 (Lisbon World Cup)

22 Anastasiya Serdyukova (UZB) - 70.100 (Tashkent World Cup)

It looks like Mamun is currently the front runner for Olympic Gold medal; but she is sometimes inconsistent
If Yana will be at the Olympics, she is way too consistent to not win, a silver upset is only possible if one of the russians make some mistakes
more likely bronze will be a contested battle between Staniouta, Rizatdinova, Son and Pazhava

Thank you, sneakers. The reason for the 2 spots rule is because judges in Apparatus or All Around Final MUST NOT BE from the same country than a gymnast taking part of that specific group, it also gives chances to other countries to have their gymnasts taking part of more competitions and avoiding a podium sweep (so no conspiracy theories about scores and placement might take place)

I just think 2 gymnast per country rule robs the best gymnasts of an opportunity to compete at the Olympics regardless of their nationality, its not their country's fault that they have a deep field and dominance, :confused2:
akin to artistic gymnastics with American gymnastics programe .

also Group competition is more like likely unpredictable anyone has a chance for gold
but I dont follow much Group rhythmic, I LIKE only the Individual rhythmic gymnastics; also its high time they include men's version
Japan and Russia are sure to dominate the mens

World Cup Minsk results

Im shocked an American won a medal, they don't really have a history in RG, though this is a weak field, No Kudrayvsteva, Rizatdinova, Son, Pazhava, Ashirbayeva
I guess all those training in Novogorsk in Russian national center has finally paid off

the wiki of Laura Zeng: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Zeng
it says : *First American rhythmic gymnast to win a medal (bronze) at a World Cup series.

thats almost after 70+ years since RG creation

Laura Zeng is an amazing gymnast. Last season she was 8th at World Championships, she really deserves her spot for Rio

Some gymnasts were not present at this world cup because national championships are close OR just because they can choose to accept or reject an invitation to an event.

I loooove Laura, it was time for her to grab some medals, and more still to come

and she's still 16 turning 17, she might place Top 10 in Olympic but she will improve still next quad
but will she stick around until 2020 Tokyo ? usually RG you are prone to injuries like back pain and knee, legs , some requiring operations

I think she will: just look at Neta Rivkin or Carolina Rodriguez, they will be 3 times Olympians in Rio. Their training is different from other countries, they focus on long term success, not in just going and grabbing medals

I don't have much love for Laura Zeng. She's a good gymnast, but she's so robotic in her movements I can't really enjoy her gymnastics. I dont understand half her scores either. In this WC she scored close to what Pazhava has been scoring lately, and that's BS for me.

Neta is from the old guard but now Israel is RG powerhouse they have Filanovsky and Ashram, Rivkins Olympic participation is still not guaranteed
Spain has really bad individual RG program that a gymnast from early 2000 is still competing :palmf:

in RG, you never know who will gets injured and retire
back, broken leg, feet, knee injuries are the most common cause for early retirement

yep 18.050, Pazhava scored about the same as that, they are neck and neck in scoring low 18's
she does look very robotic although she's still young, her PCS score shouldn't be that high

I prefer Pazhava, even Halkina is terribly underscored this season
she is rarely getting 18.1+ marks even when clean !, I guess judges are all putting all their basket on Belarusian No1. Ms. Staniouta

There's no PCS, just Difficulty and Excecution

Obviously the leaders of RG are really afraid of being such a Russian sport in this atmosphere and are making moves to make an American successful so it's not eliminated from the Olympics. It's not that Zheng isn't good but why now? That's clear.
