Might that be because they’ve never been perceived as the top Canadian junior team? That might change now.
Certainly, I'm sure the perception doesn't help, though one thing that unfortunately isn't going to change is that their coaches have easily the least political muscle of any of our top junior teams.

I think Miku, Tyler, and coaches should be very proud of what they achieved. They were underscored in PCS in Thursday’s RD, 26.91 and more than a point from D’A/W and B/B. Skating in an earlier group didn’t help. Today, they almost closed the PCS gap. At last season’s Nationals, they finished 9th, 16+ points behind D’A/W and 10+ points behind B/B. They climbed their way up this season. They weren’t the favourites to make the YOG or JWC but managed to finish ahead in two skate-offs (Challenge and Bavarian Open). They entered this event as the third entry and finished it as the top team. They should be very happy.

Looking forward to their gala tomorrow: https://mobile.twitter.com/fly_high_soyoun/status/1236350448837070848/photo/1

It doesn't look good that D'Alessandro / Waddell were beaten by US #3 the Browns, from Group 2. I have always personally felt that both Makita / Gunara and Bronsard / Bouaraguia are better technically than D'A/W. The only thing that D'A/W have over the other two is age and height.

It was so nice to wake up this morning and see that Alison placed 9th overall. Well done! :) She has so many lovely qualities. I hope that she will be able to break out of her shell a bit more next year.

Alison skated so well today for Canada. Congratulations to her. Error free, joyful and confident.

Under the old rules you automatically get as many Olympic spots as you qualify at the previous year's Worlds (except if that hits the cutoff, as happened to the US last time).

Now, you only get automatic spots for people who make the free segment at Worlds, and you get the opportunity to send a third competitor/team to Nebelhorn to qualify a third spot.

Thanks!!

Stephen Gogolev: "My boot tongue has broken [during the FS]. When I picked the ice on the lutz I felt that it broke."
"Are you going to change your boots company?"
"We're going to discuss this tongue problem with Edea and then we'll look."

Interesting! In Edeas ankle bend is achieved by flexing the tongue rather than the whole boot, so it makes sense that the tongue was the point of failure.
I hope Stephen is able to use the off-season to try out a few different boots and see what works best, and isn't constrained by whatever contract he might have with Edea. Although having used them so long, he may prefer this brand...

Yep. I was so rooting for Makita & Gunara to make the 2nd to last group for the FD as that is a great help when it comes to having an equal shot. They did the most with it:). Very proud of them.

Bronsard / Bouaraguia were the only Canadian team to get a new Seasons Best score at JW. Makita / Gunara skated well but did not top the 154.12 they earned in the JGP.

Well, the stakes for the men going into the Olympics will be higher next year, but I'd say it's a net win to have our third dance and second ladies' spots live to fight another day -- particularly the latter, the odds of being able to have two spots for Beijing just went up considerably.

I would happily give up the ladies spot for another men's spot.

It’s not like we have to, though — it was hardly guaranteed that we’d get it back this year, and whether next year will be better or worse in that regard is unknowable.

First the Worlds Women Hockey Championship here in Halifax, and then Indian Wells. So predictable was this action today re Montreal, as was the NBA schedule. Go Raptors, and thereby my heart.

My biggest regret was that I had to cancel my air/hotel plans for Montreal today and in doing so, not meeting with other GS'er as was the plan. Thanks though to my buddy Bill Neal, for his generous offer re tickets. Next time folks.

My nephew is a Dalhousie & McMaster trained doctor now working as a specialist at Mount Sinai in NYC. His message to me this evening was, STAY HOME! Please take care of you and yours everyone and remember that what we do now, matters tomorrow! Please rise to this occasion.

Well there would be a far better chance Canada would have two spots for men if they had two go to worlds. And Even next year there is m ore promise in the men. Also remember if you have two s pots you only need to be in the top 12 not ten It is pretty bad when in Canada there was a show promoting the world championships before it got cancelled and the Canada skating great had no idea who the heck Emily whats her name was and this was someone promoting the world championships in Canada. Does anyone know for sure how they are determining the numbers for next year's worlds???
