Just 2 weeks and 1 hour after the start of our last visit to Sheffield, we're back! The last time, it was Singles and Pairs skating. But this time, it is Ice Dance and Solo Dance.

Day 1 of the September Qualifier is starting now.

The streaming is being done on the same two channels as it was a couple of weeks ago.

Here is the link for today's livestream:

All the other links you may need are in the OP of this thread.

Hope this helps

Day 2 in Sheffield is starting now, an hour earlier than yesterday. But, like yesterday, it starts with the Intermediate Novice partnerships, followed by the Senior partnerships.

thank you, @CaroLiza_fan - I was at the senior ice dance qualifier yesterday - only two teams (two teams withdrew, sadly). However, I enjoyed Henry Prevett-Mendoza's and Lily Matthias's (I think) first competition performance as well as Kiah Wheldon and Jamie Hammond's first competition (I think) as seniors.

The latter team did especially well considering the music stopped midway through - and they had to wait several minutes before it was rectified. Icesheffield really need to get these technical issues sorted - the same thing happened several times at the Robin Cousins Cup and it's really unfair on the skaters.

Just tuned in for today's senior ice dance qualifiers - really enjoyed Henry and Lily's free dance (even with no sound!) They skate really beautifully together.

I am so sorry. I thought I had posted this yesterday. Just shows how scrambled my brain is at the moment with setting up the desktop. I don't know what but something major went wrong on Monday night, which meant that I had to start all over again on Tuesday. And given that it takes 2 ½ days to get everything installed, I am now worrying about whether I will be able to watch Thursday's Junior GP action like I had planned.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts as somebody who was there. Yeah, it was a shame about the withdrawals. Especially since they were the most high profile of the partnerships entered.

But, my goodness, the phantom music stopper is still in Sheffield?! :drama: I thought with just over a week in between the two events that they would have moved on haunting somewhere else!

Let's hope things go more smoothly from now on.

Day 3 in Sheffield is starting now. We start with the final two competitions from the September Qualifier, the Junior and Senior Solo Free Dances, and then it is into the Adult Ice Dance Open for the rest of the day.

After yesterday was a day of practice (there were too many Adult skaters competing to be able to fit in practice after competitions finished on Wednesday, like what happened at the Robin Cousins Cup), competitive action resumes today with the ISU part of the event, the Bolero Cup.

Please be aware that, due to losing a whole group worth of skaters from the Seniors, all competitions today and tomorrow are starting later than originally planned.

Here is the new Time Schedule PDF:

The table in the OP has been updated to reflect this.

Absolutely. Technical glitches happen all the time at Sheffield. And why Sheffield again?! 🤷 What was the point of renovating Lee Valley into a Twin Pad Olympic sized rink with extra facilities and seating if it's not going to be used for any competitions? I would've hoped for at least some of these smaller events and a JGP by now, but BIS is ensconced in Sheffield and will not budge. Tickets for Bolero Cup only £5 they say, pay at the door, come along. Yeah, if you live locally! Add on hotel and travel costs if not. Yet every time I ask BIS why they can't rotate competitions, I am completely ignored, with not even a reply. Shameful behaviour from our Association. 🙄

Anyway, looking forward to today, and it really IS an International event, with a Panel of International Judges, the only British Judge being Sundeep Pandya, a former Journalist from Kent, who in the past became Manager of Margarita Drobiazko & Povilas Vanagas, and knows Jayne Torvill well, so appropriate he should be Judging the inaugural Bolero Cup!

Good Luck to all and enjoy everyone who's going. 🥰

Just wanted to add: So pleased Lily Mathias has a new partner, and is back competing and looking at the score, doing very well. So many British Singles Boys/Men are now turning to Ice Dance if they reach a point of stagnation with their Jumps. Not everyone can do 3A and Quads, but if you're a good skater with a feeling for music, why not? It certainly means there are a lot more available partners for girls now, which is great news! 👏☺️

I looked into going to the Robin Cousins Cup as I really wanted to see the girls representing your ancestral homeland. But with Robin Hood Airport being closed, the logitics of getting there proved problematic.

With Leeds-Bradford, I could only find flights in one direction. With Manchester, the flights were not at good times, bearing in mind that both Aldergrove and Belfast City Airport are at least an hour away from where I live. With Liverpool, the flights were at good times and good prices, but trying to work out how to get from there to Sheffield was far too complicated for somebody with very little experience of railway travel and nervous of connections.

And I imagine that it would have been similar for you travelling from London.

As it turned out, something unexpected cropped up which put the final nail in the coffin of my idea of going. And after the amazing result in her Senior debut for the skater that I will always refer to as "my baby girl" no matter how many younger skaters I adopt, I have been kicking myself ever since.

On the whole, I like this new format of splitting the summer Qualifier, and tagging international competitions onto the end of each of the new Qualifiers. But I feel they have missed a trick with the way they have split the autumn Qualifier.

Instead of having them in Sheffield again, the two newly-split autumn Qualifiers should have been held in Blackburn in conjuncton with the events already being held there in October. The autumn Ice Dance Qualifier should have been held as part of the Blackburn Trophy Solo Dance event in the second week of October. And the autumn Singles & Pairs Qualifier should have been held as part of the Blackburn Cup Synchronised Skating event the following week.

It is madness them holding the autumn Singles & Pairs Qualifier in Sheffield at exactly the same time as the Solo Dance event in Blackburn. And I think the timing of the autumn Ice Dance Qualifier in the first week of November is too close to Nationals in the last week of November.

I see the spring Singles & Pairs Qualifier next March is being held as a stand-alone event in Sheffield a week before the Blackburn Open event for Singles skaters. Could these not have been held as one event in Blackburn?

Maybe they will learn lessons for next season. Or maybe not.

Now that the September Qualifier and the Adult Ice Dance Open have been completed, it is time to start the ISU part of the event, the Bolero Cup.

Please note that for today and tomorrow, we have moved from the Fed's YouTube channel over to the same channel that the ISU competitions at the Robin Cousins Cup were streamed on a couple of weeks ago.

Livestream now on air.

Here is the link for today's stream:

As there is so much happening this weekend, I will probably only be able to pop in LIVE for Angelina and Ilia.

Hope this helps.

Thankfully with music! Seriously BIS livesteaming Skating muting the music is NOT competitive Skating (as an American Judge once said).

Jenny Bill doing a great job on the mic with the name and country pronunciations. 👏👏👏🥰

Take note Ted & Mark on the JGP!

Loved the Starlight Waltz, 2 high quality US couples, with handsome Nick Buckland in the K&C coaching the leaders so far.

Can I post a screenshot? Sadly not unless already linked online and not from X.

Thank you British Figure Skating for a free stream with music!

I thought Klesalova/Klesal did such a good job. Davies/Black just competed in Ankara gp and they did well here too, a lower score though

Fear/Gibson!! I will never be ashamed for loving this fun team. I really like this RD. When its more polished this will be a killer with large audiences.
I totally agree! It was fabulous! Lilah outperformed Lewis in the dancing department! They looked disappointed with the score of 81, as did Romain Haguenauer, who clearly told them Cizeron got 88 for a far less polished RD, but this is International Judging.

I loved it! The Choreo, Costumes, Music and they skated very well. Fabulous! 😍 🇬🇧👏🥰

Not much height difference between Freddie and Layla, obviously lifts are tricky, as he's a newbie to Dance, but 45 was harsh. I liked their Cotton Eyed Joe section. ☺️

This Senior Panel is scoring harshly.

I am uploading videos during the breaks, of mostly British couples though. Junior & Senior.

I was very impressed with the improvement of Aaron Freeman & Oleksandra Borysova of Poland, they looked sharper and fitter, and they had a great RD, yet still 45 scored. It must be so disheartening. You can see how hard they've worked, such a shame.

ETA: Though I recorded more, I decided not to upload as I don't want to tempt fate, and the music in these videos is causing copyright issues. When Ted says to Mark noone wants to see 20 Tangos, and the ISU choosing high energy genres like the 90s will be popular, I'd love to see a Waltz or a Fox Trot. Several couples withdrew so this comp was only 10 couples, but by the end I'd had enough of high energy 90s.
