17th Tirnavia Ice Cup | Oct 31 - Nov 2

The 17th Tirnavia Ice Cup is scheduled to take place October 31 - November 2, 2025, in Trnava, Slovakia, at the Mestský zimný štadion (City Ice Rink).

The event will feature the Singles (Novice, Junior and Senior) and Pair Skating (Junior) disciplines. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the ISU Special Regulations, and relevant ISU Communications.

Day 2 of the Tirnavia Cup is starting now with the last two Interclub competitions, for the Pre-Novices. Then we begin the ISU part of the event with all the Short Programme segments, with the Advanced Novice girls being followed by the three boys competitions.

I've got a lot of stuff to do this morning (including my Skate Canada Predictions), but I hope to be able to join watching the ISU part of the event in the afternoon.

We now begin the ISU part of the event with an Advanced Novice SP double-bill. 19 girls, followed by 3 boys.

Unfortuantely, the Time Schedule PDF's for the ISU SP's are not working. Which is strange, considering that the PDF's for the Interclub part of the event did work.

Eh? They put adverts on during the last miunute of the Warm-Up. Could they not have shown the adverts before the Warm-Up started, when there was nothing happening on the ice?

Although it wasn't up for the first skater, I do like the split screen that they are using in between skaters. The left hand side of the screen is showing the livescoring page, the top right hand quarter is showing the ice, and the bottom right hand quarter is showing the results area. Which means we don't miss anything. Or, at least, we wouldn't if they kept it up for the whole of the time between programmes.

I actually remember this second skater from an earlier event. Suffice to say, Shahaf PINCHAS (ISR) was doing a Cruella de Vil programme. So it isn't hard to imagine why her dress stuck in my mind.

Awwww. The last skater in Group 1, skater #5 Klára KINDLOVÁ (CZE), was joined by one of her team-mates (I am not sure who she was, except that it wasn't the Czech girl that started the competition). And they were having great fun playing with the cuddly toy.

She goes into 2nd position. Which means we currently have a Czech 1-2, as skater #1 Elen KŘIVÁNKOVÁ (CZE) continues to lead.

Oh, it's a pity that these Advanced Novice skaters don't have fully filled in ISU Bios. Because I would love to know what the music Iris UMUNDUM (AUT) was skating to was. The first piece had a pirate feel to it, and the second piece a romantic feel, and the third piece was back to a dramatic feel.

And her dress was a dead ringer for a dress that one of my kids wore years ago.

She goes into 4th position.

Shaked PINCHAS (ISR) had a very different programme to Shahaf. I don't know the song, but I recognise the voice. Unfortunately, my mind has gone black as to who it was.

She looks very disappointed.

She goes into 10th and last position. 5.95 points and one position behind her sister.

And she was skating to Camila Cabello's cover of "Let's Get Loud". (Given her name, you would have thought she would have used Jennifer Lopez's original).

Oh, I just looked her up, and she's actually Brazilian. That explains the colourful dress.

I have to admit, I was intrigued when I saw the name Leonie Carolin von BUELOW (DEU). I wonder if she is a member of the famous German family.

Well, I can tell you something: she is the new leader of this competition.

We were supposed to have back-to-back Slovak girls. But the second of them, #16 Alica DRDÁKOVÁ (SVK) has withdrawn.

Have to be honest, I didn't like the music of the first of them, #15 Barbora GUŽÍKOVÁ (SVK).

She went into 14th position, splitting the Pinchas twins.

But we do now have back-to-back Italians.

Although there was no interraction between them when Bianca SOCCOL was coming off and Madleen PSENNER was coming on, we did see Bianca clapping when Madleen was introduced. So, I take it they are team-mates, but Madleen was in the zone.

Yep, they hugged after Madleen came off the ice. And then they sat together for Madleen getting her results. With the other Italian, #4 Natascha SEEBACHER, standing alongside.

I enjoyed both programmes.

Bianca was wearing a lime green dress. Madleen was wearing a black dress with a trim that looked like a pearl necklace (very wise to not wear a real necklace!)

Bianca went into 6th position, just behind Natascha in 5th. Madleen went into 15th position, further splitting the Pinchas twins.

We finish the girls competition with one of the host country skaters, Melisa Aténa ŠPAČKOVÁ (SVK).

She finished 10th position.

Not sure what's happening now. The boys aren't due to start until quarter past. There's only 3 of them, and we were supposed to go straight to them. But because of the withdrawal, the girls finished early. Will the boys start early, or will there be a gap?

Gaaaah!!! The "stream suspended for policy violations" message has appeared!!!

From past experience, this isn't normally terminal. The stream does usually come back after a short while.

Fingers crossed it comes back on soon.

Well, there was a gap, but we are now moving onto a boys triple-bill. 3 Advanced Novices, followed by 12 Juniors, followed by 4 Seniors.

I'm not complaining about the wait. The music being played was great!

Oh, by the way, although Time Schedule PDF for the girls didn't start working, the Time Schedule PDF's for all of today's boys competitions are now working.

The "stream suspended" message disappeared just in time for the announcer to tell the boys to come out onto the ice. But then it re-appeared when "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC started to play during the Warm-Up.

It looks like it is particular pieces of music that are triggering the message.

The message disappeared again when the adverts came on in the last minute of the Warm-Up. But "Thunderstruck" was still playing when the adverts ended, so I was worried that the message would re-appear and we would miss the start of the programmes.

Fortunately, it didn't.

#1 Mark LYSYCHENKO (UKR) was wearing all black.
#2 Oliver LEHOCKY (SVK) was wearing a black top and red trousers.

Nope. #3 Lenny GAGNEUX OUAKININE (FRA) was wearing grey trousers, white shirt, purple waistcoat, and purple gloves. Oh, and the trousers, waistcoat and gloves were covered in sparklies!

Yes, it was as wild looking as it sounds! Something that French Ice Dance would be proud of!
