If you're thinking about going to Varese, take warm clothes with you. That rink is VERY cold 🥶

Good to see Abu Dhabi and Baku on the list. I don't think they ever hosted JGP before. :coffee:

Gdańsk is a given, now...Riga or Varese? Maybe I should finally haul myself north to Riga, as was the initial plan this year? The rest is too far for me...

Shameful. I have no idea what Skate Canada and the USFSA are thinking. May I recommend they spend less funds on tacky rebrands and cringe marketing and more on hosting events? Grow the sport, please.
Canada and the United States are both a long way away for almost all the skaters in any JGP field. Added expense for most skaters.

Also, their immigration officials are quite paranoid and aggressive, it's just easier to take these events to places like UAE, Turkey, Thailand where there will be no visa issues, children/coaches won't be aggressively interrogated, humiliated or treated with suspicion at the airport.

Plus the ISU want to go to new markets. UAE ticks all the boxes, ease of travel, ease of visas, welcoming to foreigners, great infrastructure.

Baku! Wow, so they actually have a rink there? Last time I read about them, it was about how they didn't have the ice on the ice rink that qualified them as ISU member. Cool if they are trying to get back into the game.

I’ll definitely do Gdańsk again, but might try Varese instead of Riga next year if I manage to get leave for two JGPs.

Azerbaijan is rich country with oil and gas. It is not a problem for them even to build something new
