ISU Communication No. 2788

The ISU has released the Single and Pairs Skating Levels of Difficulty and Guidelines for marking Grade of Execution and Program Components for the 2026-27 season.

This replaces Communication No. 2701

I. Updated Levels of Difficulty of Single/Pair Skating Elements
II. Updated Guidelines for marking +GOE of Single/Pair Skating Elements (positive aspects)
III. Updated Guidelines in establishing GOE for errors in Short Program and Free Skating
IV. Changes and clarifications for GOE and Program Components

Am I allowed to say that this is ridiculous because it will be implemented only if the Technical Panels and the Judges "see" the errors and imperfections, which they clearly do for some skaters, and don't for other skaters?
Furthermore, some of the descriptions of the previous situation seems quite inaccurate? For instance, a fall gets already nearly automatically -5 in GOE, with some judges giving sometimes -4 but in general it's only one judge in a panel, so there's not change in the final Grade of Execution, caps already exist and are regularly violated for some skaters, I don't see how it would change, etc.
Much ado about nothing?
