Hello!

I’m currently skating on Pattern 99 Revolution (Pattern 99 was recommended to me by a skate tech at a professional figure skating store, and they only had the Rev in my size) and while my jumps are fine (working on 2F and 2Lz, hopefully starting 2A soon) my spins are all over the place. My forward sit spin and its variations are okay, but I struggle a lot with camel spins and all backspins (back sit, camel etc). It’s just super hard to get into the spins and find the rocker. I’ve only had these blades for about 3 months, so I wonder if I should just stick with them and see if they start working for me, or switch to something with a less flat profile. I’ve had my blades moved to match my overpronation as well.

I’m happy to provide more information if needed!

What blades did you have before, and how were your spins on those?
I had Coronation Ace. Getting into spins was easier on them, and I could definitely consider going back to another pair of those. I wonder if switching back to CA would be smart, how would it impact my jump progress?

Coming from an all around rounder rocker of the CA to the flatter P99 could be causing some issues, but 3 months is a long time already, and there might be other issues that the flatter blade is just aggravating.

Pronation might be causing problems as well, especially if you skate on something like Edeas.

On top of that, the thinner blade of the revolution might be adding to the problem as well, since the thinner blade means faster edges but less balance overall, and so you can imagine any pronation issues getting worse as well.

People have used CAs all the way to triples, although it's generally upgraded latest by the time you start working on 2A. You could also look at something like the Phantom profile (7' rocker like the CA, big toe picks like P99 but with a rounder spin rocker). Or Gold Seals of course. But I would first figure out if there's something more going on than just the different blade profile causing the issues.

I'll send you a DM with some ideas.
