Boots broken in?

I’m a 165cm 57kg skater, just starting to learn axel and double jumps.
My previous skates still feel hard in the heel, but the front part around the laces/tongue are starting to bend and fold out between the laces. Tying tighter just hurts my ankles and makes my feet cramp.
My coach thinks there is something wrong with the fit. Is this a sign of the boot breaking down, and if so, should I replace with the same or go get fit for a different pair?

I can't tell from the picture what brand and model they are, but they look as if they don't fit properly around the ankles. Did you buy them at a skate shop with a professional fitter? How long have you had them, and how many hours per week do you skate? (In other words, is breaking down over time also a factor, or were you just sold the wrong boots for your feet in the first place.)

If you can describe the shape of your feet, toes, arches, heels, etc, someone here can suggest boot brands that would fit you better. Are you an adult skater, or are you still growing? And if you can tell us where you live (city/state/country) someone can direct you to a good skate shop near you. Good luck!

They are Risport Royal Pro. They’re 2.5 years old now but my coach doesn’t think they should be creasing in the front when they break down, instead more on the sides. I was skating 1-2 hours per week in them.

I’m an adult skater and have a pretty wide foot with a normal arch that flattens when I stand on it. Roman toes (but Egyptian when I’m pointing my foot). Heels are pretty wide as well and I have pump bumps (hardened bursitis on the backs of my heels). I have good local skate shops but things are always out of stock so I can’t try everything in my size.

I would say Risports are wrong for your feet, but I'm not a coach or a skate technician. I wear Risport RF1 boots myself and I have narrow feet with sharply-slanted Egyptian toes (tip of baby toes is lower than base of big toes) and very high arches. I'm not familiar with Edeas, but Jacksons might work better for you. I'd have to leave that up to one of the coaches on GS (@Ic3Rabbit ?) or skate techs who know all the brands and which fit which type of feet.

It would help, though, to know where you live. I'm on the Pacific coast of Canada, so I'd direct a skater in the Pacific NW to Cyclone Taylor in Vancouver, but you may live a continent away from me :). My own fitter will bring in a pair of just about any boots for someone to try on, and if they don't fit, the boots go in to stock as a random pair at a reduced price.
