She is from Quebec and he is from Russia - what a great dancer he is! And what a fabulous team they are becoming!!! This is their first season together. Chantal had another partner before, but her new partner is just right for her. They look so classy together. Shae-Lynn is also helping to coach them!!! Wonderful.

Let's see how this works out. From what I've read, Markov is indeed a terriffic skater, but a not-so-nice person. One of the reasons (reportedly) that his partnership with Kulikova fell apart was because he thought himself such a huge star. Anyway, I wish them both luck.

I was really excited when I saw this team at nationals. They seem really well-matched with tons of passion and expression. They also seem to have really good skating skills, great speed and are coming together as a team remarkably fast. I look forward to seeing them next year on the GP circuit. This team could go far. I think they'll be challenging for the gold medal next year at the Canadian championships.

As for his personality, I have no information on that subject so won't comment.

I thought it was a well known fact that Arseny and Svetlana broke up because when TT and Nikolai broke up, he wanted to go with Nikolai, and she wanted to stay with TT.

Smiley, this was the "official" well known fact. However, there have also been rumors that the they weren't getting along well even before that. I mean, things must have really been bad if they chose not to even go to Worlds despite their 3d place finish at Nationals. Though, as I have said, those are just that -- rumors.

Well, hopefully if he was a jerk, he has learned it's lesson. You can't dance alone. I think they are great, but as I said on another thread, I think they need a new choreographer. Morozov seems to have spread himslef alittle thin. His programs are really looking alike this year. I am very excited for them though.

Maybe Canada will be good for Arseniy - he will get lots of attention here. We have a shortage of male ice dancers!!! I think he gets along well with Chantal. At least it looked as though they were at Canadians. Who knows? He may be one of those "temperamental" types. That will make it difficult for them. Anyway, it's great to see them togther and I hope it works. Sure added some excitement to our ice dance.

Aren't they training in Connecticut? Plus, I've heard that they are an item now. And I read somewhere on the boards that before one dance at Canadian Nats when he said something her, it was: "I love you, let's do this."

I really liked Kulikova & Markov, I thought they had a great future before them...

Yes, they do train in the US, but he wants to represent Canada in the Olympics so will have to get his Canadian citizenship in order to do that. As well, he will need it to skate in the Canadians next season and represent Canada.

Shae-Lynn Bourne is helping to coach them!!

He doesn't need citizenship to represent Canada. It's only necessary for the Olympics. Tanith Belbin is not an American citizen yet, but she skates for the U.S. at Nats and Worlds. There are many other examples as well. Chantal's old partner was British, I don't know if he ever had his citizenship.

Chantel's partner before Manning was Michel Brunet. The dynamics between them never seemed "supportive or sharing". Perhaps she has some personal way of dealing with less than ideal situations. If so, wouldn't it be nice to know so we could all use it too?

I'm really looking forward to see these dancers compete....
Since I'm to lazy to look up the results from Canadian nationals:P...how did they end up?

They got the bronze. Same as Markov's former partner, Kulikova, at the Russian Nats (she's skating with Novikov now). It'll be interesting to see them compete in the same competitions.

One of my fav moments of nats was when he told her he loved her. It was such a great camera shot...nice. I thin they have a lot of chemistry. In fact, they remind me a lot of Klimnova and Pomerako (sp?) I've been beeing to dig up some pics because I think they look a lot like eaCH OTHER. iN FACT, i THINK l&m WERE WEARING VERY SIMILAR COSTUMEs THAT k&p WORE one year

wooops, i hit the caps lock in there and am too lazy to retype. sorry

They finished a very close third. It was a 5-4 split with Wing and Lowe. I can see her resemblance to Klimova, but he doesn't look like Ponomarenko. K&P were one of my favourite teams, so I'd love it if L&M share some of their qualities.
