I don't remember of any other Christophers competing at the time. I do remember during the 1989 Worlds broadcast Scott Hamilton commented that the new rivalry could be 'Battle of the Killer B's' (Bowman and Kurt Browning). Of course, the rivalry ended up being Kurt and Victor Petrenko. On the National Level, his competitors were Paul Wylie, Todd Eldredge, and Mark Mitchell.

There was a Chris Mitchell who placed 15th at the '89 US Nationals but I wonder if you could possibly be remembering Kristi Yamaguchi? She placed 2nd in '89 in Ladies & 1st in pairs with partner Rudi Galindo at our nationals.

There was a skater from the same area named Christopher Borden. IIRC, he was also in Senior Men at the same time as Chris Bowman, but he didn't have the same success. All I remember about him is his mom made these cool knitted towels for skaters to sit on. I still have mine.
