Eastern Sectionals will be broadcast by Comcast's CN8 channel as part of the ongoing Nancy Kerrigan's World of Skating, as well as by icenetwork.

The 2009 Eastern Sectional Championships take place Nov. 11-15, 2008, at the Skating Club of Boston and will be televised by CN8 on the following dates and times:

Fri., Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. – Senior ladies
Sat., Dec. 13, 5:30 p.m. – Senior ladies (replay)
Fri., Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m. – Senior men
Sat., Dec. 20, 3:30 p.m. – Senior men (replay)

Pairs and ice dancing will be covered and included in one or both of the shows.

Doris - I am having a bit of misunderstanding about this.

Last season IceNetwork carried all the Regionals and Sectiionals. This season they have not advertised any of this. Does anyone know of IceNetwork's intention of doing the Regs and Sects?

Unfortunatel,y my Cable TV does not carry Comcast. Maybe I can rent CN8 for a week.

it seems like IceNetwork will cover all the Sectionals. They were so interesting last season, I didn't want to miss them this year.

Some of my impressions having been there (IMHO)

Senior Dance: Morgan Matthews is loaded for bear. She is driven, driven, driven! I think some of that translated into a fall during their FD. I'm not sure if they will be able to land on the podium given how jam-packed the senior dance competiton will be at Nationals.

Senior Men: Priscilla Hill has been working with Shaun Rogers and her impact is discernable, however I don't know how much further he can evolve. Curran Oi appears to still be somewhat of a raw talent but I think has potential. Michael Solonoski was robbed of the 4th spot by Tommy Steenberg since the judges decided to overlook the fact that he had almost no jump content.

Junior Men: Ross Miner has a lot of raw talent with a lot of speed going into a lot of his jumps. Alexander Aiken is a more finished and artistic skater. Michael Chau impressed me during his SP, throwing in a grand jete which required a manual override in order to score him properly.

Junior Ladies: Some of the most beautiful skating was done by Gretchen Donlon in her LP, however without any triples. What I don't understand is why Mark Mitchell moved her up to Juniors. Kristienne Gong was also great to watch

Novice Men: Austin Wagner who happens to be Ashley's brother;he's also with Priscilla Hill and reports are that he decided to become serious about his skating this year. I think that he has great edges and a lot of potential.

I believe that Gretchen had been landing triples, but was off the ice for a good part of the summer with a stress fracture in her back. It is pretty impressive that given her limited jumping content, she was still able to qualify for nationals. The overall quality of her skating is quite magnificent. I saw the videos of Kristiene on icenetwork at regionals, and she has also improved since moving to Boston to train.

Wow, seriously? Gretchen is a beautiful skater however you're saying her top jump was a double axel, isn't that the equivalent of a juvenile national level program? Was the rest of the event messy, the short program scores were fairly close with only 3 pts. between 3rd and 10th, and expecting the long to be pretty exciting. Yes, Kristiene had improved a lot at regionals and very happy for her going to nationals.

Everyone appears to have moved to Priscilla with a few exceptions. Unfortunately, I don't have the program with me right now to tell you who Pam still has. At various points during the sectionals, I spied Pam surveying the the overall turf and I got the gut impression that she was potentially "prospecting".

Yes. Her top jump in terms of difficulty was the double axel. While I was not aware of her stress fracture, the rest of the skating was so magical that she received the top PCS components of all of the junior skaters.

I feel bad for Haley Dunne. Her elements were more of a Junior level. I would have liked to see her get fourth. Gretchen skates beautifully, but she still does not have the jumps that I would expect to see at the junior level. In my opinion there are still many flaws in the current system but its better than the old.

Well, all the results are up on icenetwork but not 'on demand' except for some lower categories.I'll be patient because I want to see them before Nats. There is now a combination of 16 Singles and Teams (give or take a few) heading to the US Nats.

btw. Did anyone see Joelle Forte skate and win Easterns? She beat out Brittany Rizo and Blake Rosenthal easily. I've got to see that. Nothing unusual about Mens, Pairs but Morgan and new partner, Leif got very respectable scores in Dance. Morgan tends to be a prima donna and I like that. Hopefully on demand comes up before Nats.

No big surprises at Mids. I do miss Braden and Rohene.

Pacific Coast Ladies has a lot of former potentials fading away. Chrissie Hughes better get into heavy practising before Nats. EZ win for Razzano over Phan, and good to note LaRoche is competiting along with Scott Smith. EZ win for Davis/Merritt in Pairs and Dance had quite a battle between Kriengkraingut/Giulette-Schmidt (say that ten times fast!) and Pratt/Obzansky.

Let's see if any of them get a medal in Cleveland?
