Kate won silver at the All-Russian Competition for the Prizes of the Moscow Figure Skating Federation President.
I like her progress this season.

Kate took another silver in Moscow with a score of 196.03! She is happy with her new domestic personal best.

Kate is taking part in her first stage of the Russian Grand Prix the season tomorrow.

According to the planned program content, her new SP music is performed by Justafre Grand Orchestra. It's difficult to say what is it exactly because the music itself isn't listed due to a typo. But it looks like she continues doing classical programs. Natalia Bestemianova is still listed as her coach/choreographer.

I hope she does good enough to make it to Nats. She had an injury in the off-season.

Her SP music turned out to be Queen's "Show Must Go On" performed by Justafre Grand Orchestra. It was obvious that she's lacking shape. There was an unclear landing on the combo (though it was fully rotated) and the spins weren't very good. Still she did quite well, scored 61 and was 5th.

Her FS is Rocky soundtrack. The first part of the program was good but unfortunately she popped two jumps in the second half. She dropped to 8th overall. I made some calculations and nationals still look possible for her (if she even gets another stage) but she will have to be perfect.

She had a surgery on her foot in the off-season and returned to training just one month ago. She just didn't get in shape. She missed the whole off-season.

Both programs are quite unusual for her. She used to skate to covers of classical music before. But the new style suit her too. Her team definitely knows what she needs. The step sequence in the SP is a total fire.

Kate won interclub competition in Minsk. The local crowd seemed to love her. :)

The SP was very clean. In the FS the tech panel looked a little harsh but she got higher PCS than she gets domestically. 🙂

I think she is going to peak by nationals.

I've recorded her FS. It's definitely her best skate this season and one of the best in her career.

Unfortunately nationals didn't go as planned. Mistakes in both programs. But Kate looked happy just to be there. She gave an interview after her free skate:

- Katya, we congradulate you on performing at nationals. These are your second nationals in a row. How would you compare these two events? What worked out better here, what can you praise yourself for?
- At my first nationals I wasn't very nervous because I didn't know what it is like. I didn't realise the scale of this event. This event is characterised by festivity and solemnity. Last time I didn't know what it was like and was less nervous. This time I was very nervous. I can't say what is related to because I was prepared well. We worked a lot. But not everything worked out here. I think it is because I was nervous and couldn't handle it. And I could praise myself for the fact that after an unsuccessful short program I was able to pull myself together for the free skate and fight until the end, not giving up the program. I tried to fight and finish everything to the end.

- You are training in Tula Region. Can you tell us about your school, are your facilities good, do you have enough ice time?
- I think that Tula Region has improved a lot in fact. There is enough ice time. We have a new modern arena. I also often come to training camps in Moscow. So I have enough ice time, the facilities are good, I have nothing to complain about. You can work, you can improve.

- Are there many skaters in your group?
- No, not much in mine one. There are free places on the ice. Not difficult to jump and do all the elements.

- What was your goal for this season? Of course clean skates, but you likely want to move up the ranks?
- In fact, I missed most of the off-season and didn't skate as I had an injury. I wasn't able to overcome the injury until the end of August. I didn't start training fully until like mid-September. So I had very little time to prepare and I tried not to lose my level, just to stay at the same level to perform well at both Russian Grand Prix stages. The goal, of course, was to qualify for the Russian Nationals. Something worked out, something didn't. We will work further and improve. Now I know exactly what I need to work on.

Ekaterina took part in another international interclub event.

Generally, she skated very well. She even managed to win the SP against Safonova and Yametova. Unfortunately she couldn't stay in the top 3 due to the Lutz edge.

Anyway, I was very happy to see her skating great. She finally skates like she did before the surgery.

I guess the season is over. I'm looking to forward to see Kate's progress and new great programs. Hopefully she has a better off-season this time.
