Free Leg Landing.
Hi , I'm new to Golden Skate and to figure skating.
I started canskate ( Canada) in fall 2021 and I am now taking private lessons once a week.
I am at my 14th private lesson.
I have started waltz, salchow's, toe and loop jumps. My favorite is the loop.
The issue that I am having is that I bend my torso to much forward upon landing and/or my free leg ends up bending at the knee and is not straight at all ( which is not pretty at all)
My coach tells me I need to practice, practice, practice...
Does anyone have any tricks ?
I am a 51 yrs old , women, new to figure skating world :)

Thanks for any input !!!!

How is the bend in the knee of your landing leg? I've found with landings that all of my stability seems to feel like it comes from having a good bend in the supporting knee when I land.

At least, that's my guess, is that your forward bend and bent free leg are both attempts to compensate your balance? With a good bend in your supporting knee and hence good stability on the supporting leg, you may not feel you need these as much.

Or, what happens if you try to really push your extension back through that free leg and almost feel like you're pushing your hips (butt) backward? On some moves I find I also need to focus on this more than I would expect to-- with spirals being one of them, and a landing position is similar. Do you feel like you rock forward onto your toe pick at all?

Thanks so much for your advise. I think your absolutely right ......I need to bend my landing knee more.
To your point also, when I push my extension back through the free leg I end up rocking too much forward.
I guess, in the end I need to have a deeper and softer knee bend but at the same time try and keep my posture straighter when pushing my leg back :)
