I recently was reminded in a thread that Jenny Kirk got 17th and 18th place during the two times that she got to go to Worlds.

I don't remember viewing her Worlds skate on TV or hearing much about it. My question is: Why did she do so low. For a skater who had skated at some Nationals and GP events with 7-triple SPs, how come she couldn't even break the top 15? To have gotten such a low ranking at Worlds, she had to skate significantly under her potential? Was it nerves, fatigue, inexperience that made her crash at Worlds?

well i guess it was the same factors that prevented american pairs castille and olkoski and inoue and baldwin (until recently). the worlds team is just too deep. When you think you have a shot at winning, you skate well. When there is no hope you skate carelessly.

Then again, wasn't Brooke ill during Worlds this year? That might account for their poor showing...
