Layla Veillon & Alexander Brandys

Layla Veillon (born June 5, 2006 in Cowansville, QC, Canada) and Alexander Brandys (born June 10, 2005 in London, ON, Canada) are an ice dance team representing Canada.

They are two-time Canadian Junior champions, three-time JGP medalists, and qualified to the 2025-26 JGP Final.

It will be really interesting to see where they place at Canadian Nationals!

Layla & Alexander were 3rd in the RD at Championets Qeubecois with 66 and 2 key points for their Golden Waltz. It will be nice if this sort of score is replicated at a bigger event but the judges here seem kinder about awarding key points than the Lake Placid judges. Some teams even got 4. The two teams ahead of them were composed of experienced senior skaters in newly formulated partnerships.

I'm unsure about the ISU allowing/encouraging all these non-waltz type music and style choices in a "waltz" season, but I'm not at all against the rock flamenco concept. I actually enjoyed their waltz section which felt like real dance to me. I love the jump into the twizzles and Layla's swirly skirt as well. A more creative costume for Alexander would be nice.

Layla and Alexander were 2nd in the FD with 101. One of the teams ahead of them dropped out and multiple teams suffered falls. Layla and Alexander were helped by earning positive GOE on every element.

It seems to be a Tron program. Overall it looks like the kind of thing I enjoy. I don't care for Layla's catsuit (I rarely do outside pairs) or Alexander's short jacket that rides up to show his bellybutton through his mesh undershirt. But you can't win them all. My favorite part was when they took turns briefly lifting each other.
