With only one Junior Grand Prix (JGP) event left to go before the Final, USA's Kristine Musademba currently leads the ladies in standings with fellow countrywoman Alexe Gilles, Amanda Dobbs, and Becky Bereswill trailing close behind. [More]

If nothing else, she will add some color to the landscape. I have been rooting for her ever since I first saw her at junior nationals. Last year she skated really well at nationals but ended up fourth (touched down of 3-lutz and opened up on last 3-salcow).

Does anyone know if she will be moving up to seniors this year? She might as well move up and do it while she still can (no crazy growth so far and body still looks good).

The end of the article states that she will be competing senior in the U.S. and that Musademba made her competitive debut at Liberty back in July (but didn't mention it was her senior debut; her Liberty videos are on youtube, btw).
Musademba's first event of the season was the Liberty Open which was held July in 15-19, 2008 in Ashton, Pa. The 15-year-old, who placed sixth in the short and fifth in the long, felt she didn't do her best. "I did land a triple Lutz-double toeloop combination in my long program for the first time, so I was very excited about that," she said. "It was a very good learning experience and gave me a very good clear idea of what I needed to work on."
Just to clarify -- Musademba competed in Senior Ladies Group A (there were 2 separate groups of senior ladies at Liberty).

Thanks for the article!

I think Fujisawa of Japan will win the next week's JGP and clinch the top spot.
there was also Haruka Imai who won a JGP but she didn't get a second JGP assignment. Too bad because I thought Imai could win the JGP finals.

Here are videos of Fujisawa and Imai

I really love Imai's style and artistry. She is a beautiful skater to watch.
Thanks for the clips.

Imai is definitely the more mature skater with lovely posture and arms. Fujiswa is like Yoshie Onda - all Tech, but she has super tech, she will be a force in Sheffield, definitely.

At Liberty, skaters are allowed to skate up a level so I wasn't sure if that meant she was moving up for sure or just trying it out. SOme skaters even did both Junior and Senior events.

This is the first I've heard of Musademba.

On the good side, I like her basic posture and carriage and a kind of inherent musicality that doesn't come across as too precious. I even like her arm movements (not always polished but almost always making sense in terms of music and/or body position). Nice edges though the CoE is pretty brutal.

Most importantly she passes the 'watch test' as in "do I like watching her and want to see more?" Neither of the Japanese skaters posted on this thread passes that test yet.

On the bad side, there seem to be jump issues, some attitude some technical. If she can get the jumps together she could be a force to be reckoned with.

She's already passed her Senior test here in the US.

Very powerful athlete with a lot of promise for the future ... would love to see her expand her repetoire of music choices, costuming and expression
