Caroline: As i thought, she was robbed but whatever. I was SO happy for her landing the 3/3, it look nice a clean to me. She proved that she is putting a salchow, and also that it is not her best jump. She looked very nervous and a little slow here and there. Her spins...what can I say??? her spiral sequnece is great too, but i don't like the foward charlotte entrance to that jump.... it looked out of place.

Emily: Finaly hair up out of her face which helped. Chreography-bad ( i did not get the theme, and the chreogragphy seemed non existant after the opening. Looks pretty much the same as last year. Dress-awful.

Kimmie: She looks like she has grown a lot. She really looks like a woman now. I felt the music wasn't good, she shoudl have used more cuts from turnadot, not just that one song, nessun dorma, i did not like that version. Dress was OK. Chreography looks bland and spirals were just thrown here and there. Did not like the lunge at the creshendo.... that's what you see that little girls in preliminary doing. Kimie really need a "big" move for moments like that. overall not impresive at all.

Miki: as i thought, she makes a good carmen. Dress was too heavy looking, but it might grow on me. She skated very sloppy but her spirals looks better, she holds up her back more and that are actually moments of good chreography, i loved when she blew the kiss to the judes at the beginng!

Mai: never will be a jumper, always place around sixth... not much comment

Mira: much better than last year! I was pleasently surprised. Her jumps still look wierd, but really a lot of improvement!

goes to show that people can watch the same coverage and think completely different things

I thought Kimmie's LP was a huge improvement over the last couple of seasons... it was a very light look on her in a way... and she's definitely worked on the 'beach ball arms' thing... she's no longer working the airplane wings look...

While I love Caroline, she has such small jumps (granted I'm watching them on TV) and while she's grace incarnate... I don't see her really feeling the music... She made the podium... that's nothing to sneeze at considering she was right up there with them

And I *loved* the lunge into the jump. I felt it worked well w/the music. Oh and Kimmie looks so good in red. Really suits her. She should get some scissors and cut that braiding/accent thing at the slit of the skirt though. It kept distracting my eye away from what she was doing.

I also liked Emily's dress. Thought it really flattered her and suited her body type. Unlike last year's dress. It was also wonderful to see her skating to something powerful. She's not a ballet/pretty music skating style of skating skater. She's a powerful skater, so why not give her a piece to match her style. I think Carmina Burena's a perfect fit w/her and the program's only going to get better.

My two cents, not that anyone really cares ...

1) Kimmie - pretty dress except for that weird slit/underdress thing. I agree with Tiny that she really didn't make very good use of this music and that choreography was a mess. I've never been a fan of her corkscrewy jumps but kudos to her for landing most of them.

2) Miki - waaaay too much flailing at the beginning. Her style really just doesn't strike me as that of a sex-kitten seductress...she looked out of shape and her footwork was just painful to watch. I realize most of the higher-value footwork is of that icky stop and go variety but you could tell how hard she was trying to focus on not falling again.

3) Caroline - Thought the judges were unfairly brutal with her downgrades - as the general consensus here seems to be. Program was a yawn-fest - really don't think that music is suitable for an ENTIRE 4 minute program but she pulled it off well. She looked a bit rushed tonight but big props for her handling the pressure so gracefully.

The rest...

Mira - definitely most improved. She had a really pleasant skate out there with nice interpretation of the music although actually *wearing* a piano was kinda overkill
Mai - I like her program and thought it started out nicely before she decided to sleepwalk through the rest of it after missing that jump.
Emily - she just makes EVERYTHING look so hard!!!

I actually liked her costume. I thought for once, it didn't look like a Junior costume that she bought at the local skating store!

I agree that she has improved; however, toward the end as she got tired, she returned to her "bobbing" a bit. She still really needs to work on that.

Well, for me, I think the three medals ladies were well deserved. Miki won LP but second overall from that unforgivable fell out of stepseq.
I actually cheered Miki, but this was not her night.
Caroline is the new face, judges won't give her point ahead of those two world champions, plus she skated earlier. Take this year as an experience for real senior next year.
For Kimmie, her toe jumps were so cheated. Even with the very very good and emotional Nessun Dorma couldn't make me moved.
I felt happy with the strict deduction judging this year. Last year's was overall inflated. Wrong edges and take off are seriously considered.

I like Emily's dress, though lots of people here don't. Consider this competition tougher than skate canada and cup of china. Lots of strong competitor in Skate America. (Why there were so many empty seats left? It is not popular in the states any more? Even with Kimmie, couldn't bring audiences like Sasha and Kwan.)

I am so over Miki!! I am the new Caroline Zhang fan!!

she will never replace sasha in my hear, but I can't help but love and root for her!! Her LP coudl have been better but I am so glad she did the 3/3 in both programs. Her SP was perfect, she should have been in 1st after the short. Let me say that is she skated Ave Maria with the passion and the emotion and SPEED I saw in practice she would have won.

and I have to say I'm so disappointed with Kimmie. She's an awesome jumper, but is she ever going to improve in terms of her musicality?
