Q Maxim, how do you feel after the operation?.
“I still don’t feel that the knee is totally healthy. There is periodically some pain, but that is as it should be. I hope that I’ll forget about my knee altogether in another month”
O: “Usually, we make our programs in May, and if things aren’t totally ready by July, then we have some serious draftwork. Now because of the operation, we had 1.5 months rest and just went on the ice in July. This year, there will be lots of folk. We’ll try to make new lifts. We’ll skate to a famous Cossack song . You won’t see it at least for a month. We should have programs by early September. At that time, the national team has its annual camp at which coaches and RFSF president evaluate our preparation for the season. The first competition will be in October.”
…A question got lost? “We have 4 hours of ice, plus general fitness, choreography where we do our programs in the dance hall. In comes out to 6-7 hours a day. But July for us is the beginning of the season, we’re getting into shape, doing general fitness, programs, so there is more time spent on it then mid-season. During that time, we can skate and then go rest”
M: “Yes, the first 3-4 months of the season when the program hasn’t “skated out” yet, and we have to work after holidays – this is the most demanding period. We know it and therefore try to get along well and close our eyes to any rough edges (this word doesn't mean skate edges but rather roughnesses "rough edges" in general, so it could mean in the program, behavior, etc.)”
Do you argue at practice?
M: “Very rarely”
O: “We have an excellent relationship that honestly shocks everyone. They are surprised, you don’t fight at all? Maybe that’s because they see how many dance teams are always having scandals. It’s really hard when 2 different people are always together. So they have to have some conflict. But we can find compromises without fighting. I think we have an ideal relationship for partners. Even if we have a slight argument, then we just take a break for 5 minutes at a time.”

M: “I’m optimistic and believe everything will turn out great”
What are your goals for the coming season?
O& M: “To finish first at all competitions, especially since we are the Number 1 Russian dance team.”
