I'm working on my final paper in Small Business and I have to create a business plan for 'my business' which I just might implement later this year

one thing I have to figure out is Insurance, and I have been told very strongly that I need health insurance lol...

I'm currently going through netquote to get a free quote, but are there better alternatives to this?

Toni,
My sister and I are going through this with our mom. Our situation is different than yours - her health is bad and she has pre-existing conditions with lots of medications. What we have generally found is that purchasing an individual policy is very pricey and the coverage is not as good - esp. for RX's. There are networks - groups of small businesses that come together and purchase a plan together, passing the savings on. One of the reason's large corps. can get good insurance is that they have so many people to insure, so small businesses have gotten together and done the same.

Do you have a car? if so, you might check with your car insurance agent. He/she may not sell health insurance but they might know where to point you to. That's what we did and we learned a lot. Every person has a Health Credit Score - just like a credit score but for your health. The more inquiries to your score, the more questions that come. I will ask my mom what some of the sites are that she looked at. I'm sure they have plans for young folks who are presumably healthy.

Good luck! - oh also - make sure you go with a company that is legal to do business in AK....some are, some are not.

So, what are folks saying about Palin's new baby? I read the ADN and man, folks are either congratulating her and wishing them love and support with Trig's health and others are ripping her apart for traveling while she was in labor etc. Someone even suggested that the baby was one of her daughters! Anyhow, they chose another cool/interesting AK themed name for him.

Palin rocks my socks, I adore her...

I do not adore the name for her new bundle! what's up with the Van Palin? LOL

Palin is a really well liked governor on both sides of the political fence (unlike Murkowski lol) she plans to get right back to work, too, which has made many people happy because of one of the bills she'll be signing in the next few days lol

I've heard the pro-Palin thing before but I've also heard folks aren't keen on her. I like her. I think the name thing - Trig from someplace they lived once. The middle name has something to do with a location near Glennallen that hubby use to ride his snowmobile and the "van" was a spoof. I guess they thought it would be cool to use it van palin ie van halen ect.

well I don't think you'll see 100% happiness in any government leader

a lot of her detractors are people she tells "no".. I know Murkowski isn't too keen on her and he has a pretty good following in the older more 'traditional' folk... my grandparents finally came around to liking her after a long time of saying she wasn't right for the job.

and she used to annoy my mom back when she was the mayor of Wasilla lol now she loves her, go figure

She's the hottest governor in the US according to the polls! how can you not be proud? ;)

Individual health insurance can cost several thousand dollars. When I worked at HIP (an HMO), I was told that the same plan that we had would cost $12,000 for an individual and that was back in 1992.

Wow! I am lucky - besides our BC medical which we are all entitled to here, I get medical and dental through my job and my husband's job. It sure helps.

I hope you are able to find a plan.

I've got private health insurance here in Canada. It costs me $120.00 per month for the best coverage the insurance company has (prescriptions, dental, accidental, some vision care, para-medical services such as massages). I'm 30 and a non-smoker, so I get decent rates. I'd suggest perusing the internet for some well-known U.S. insurers. You could always check with an insurance broker, too.

I found one through Premera/Blue Cross that is 258 a month... for up here in Alaska that's not bad at all... so if I were to go this route that's the one I'd get...
