Senior Ladies Free Skate Comments

Alissa Ciszny truly is the one with the real talent - if she can get consistency with the jumps I think we'd see her total scores be far and away the best of the lot - I can see her winning by large margins easily if only she gets consistent. Kimmie Meisnner and Emily Hughes would be distant runners-up for sure.

I could not agree more. But I'm not giving up on Kimmie getting the total package together. I just don't see Emily being competitive with the Mao's and the Yu-Na's.

Hey guys, did anyone catch those comments Dick made about mostly everyone who was in the GP. "She had seven falls from her GP events".

Beyond excited to see a good Czisny skate! I was absolutely thrilled and jumping up and down clapping in my living room! It would be terrific if she could become a solid competitor (go away nerves!)

Kimmie held it together...certainly not her best skate but she is such a fighter! I like how much she has improved since last year and that she seems to be finding her style.

Emily absolutely does nothing for me...I wish I could say differently...I like that she is a good competitor but zzzzzzzzzzz. I thought she was way overmarked! I am glad Alissa won the LP, but I didn't think Emily's marks should have been that close...

I hope these 3 go to 4CC!

Alas, the Rachael Flatt thing is lost on me... I think she goes a bit overboard with what Peggy Fleming calls "feeling the music". Her facial expression looks like she's in pain, mostly. A smile goes much further in my book-- especially if it's one like Alissa's! ;)

My feeling, so to speak, on this, is that "feeling the music" goes beyond a bunch of facial expressions that no-one past the 3rd row is going to be able to see anyway; IMHO, "feeling the music" in skating means you feel it in your BODY and skate accordingly -- and I'm very disappointed in Peggy, of all people, for not realizing this.

I felt little Rachel felt the music. She had a beautiful face and arm movements. You don't get any of that from Kimmie.
Have to agree about Emily. She was way over makred. She won't get near those scores internationally. To me she is not on the same level as Kimmie or Alissa. If Bebe had of stayed on her feet she should have been ahead of her.

Flatt uses her whole body to express the music, not just her face. Her arm movements begin from the center of her body and are perfectly coordinated with her skating. That in itself is so unusual in a skater. The only other current skater that has exceptional use of her arms is Yu-Na Kim.

I found Flatt's performances compelling, even if they were a bit slow. If she is this good at 14, I can't imagine how good she will be at 17 (assuming she survives the puberty bug).

I think Rachel was quite good artistically...for a 14 year old that is. She has a lot of potential, hopefully puberty or injury won't stunt her rise.

In fact I got more feeling out of her performance than from Kimmie's. Not a knock on Kim but just a fact.
