USFS' May 8th article -- Cartoon Network Gives "Props" to Rachael Flatt:
Fourteen-year-old Rachael Flatt is one of 16 “real-world kids” across the country chosen to receive “Props” as part of Cartoon Network's ongoing Get Animated initiative. The Get Animated campaign encourages kids to get active, get healthy and get involved, and “Props” recognizes young people who demonstrate an exceptional talent, commitment and accomplishment in a single area of expertise.

Viewers can vote for one of the 16 finalists through mid-July, and the top six will be showcased in a one-hour television special during which each athlete will be rewarded with a “dream experience” in their area of excellence.

Thanks for posting that. I saw the spot on Sunday and have readied myself to record it for everyone. I went to their site and searched for Rachael Flatt and got nothing. Glad you found this. Now I don't have to be on stand-by to try and capture this for everyone.

Yep, voted for Rachael!!!!

How cute, I voted for her. I just love little Rachael. In the clip they showed she still has that strange landing on her jumps that Dick complained about during Nationals.

I think the point of the "PROPS" project at Cartoon Network is to acknowledge all the hard work these kids have put into their area of expertise, not be negative.

We voted for Flatt, too! Though we thought the surfer was pretty darn cute!

I wasn't being negative. I was being observant.

Are you talking about the landing of the second jump of her 3Lz/3T combination? Not trying to be negative, LOL, but that would make an interesting study of how much of the rotation you are permitted to do on the ice versus in the air.

What prize do the winners get? It would be cool if the prize was to make a Rachael cartoon character -- save the figure skater, save the world!

Prediction: Rachael will win U.S. Nationals next year.

I am shocked at how little buzz there has been about this young lady this year. Every where it's Caroline and Marai, and Kimmie etc. I belive thet rachel has a lot more chance of medaling at worlds or the grand prox than Alissa or Emily. If her triple triple was ratified at natioanls she could have medaled. I hope that we see alot more of Rachel. I really enjoy her skating. :agree:

I love this girl. I was just talking about that wide swing she has on every landing. It does not seem to be something they are trying to fix. I guess that is how she learned to land the jumps. I hope she makes the podium this year. I like her skating a lot better then Emily's.

I too was impressed with her at Nationals. Will she be eligible for Worlds this year?

Will she be eligible for Worlds this year?
No, because she doesn't turn 15 until after July 1, 2007. Flatt will be old enough for ISU Senior Championships (4 Continents, Worlds) in the 2008-09 season.
