Perfect biellman for me would have to go to Radionova. Beautiful teardrop shape and not strained looking, and very fast. Of course, Lip's variation is also nice.

I agree. I like Radionova's Biellman too.
By the way, about Yulia, does she choose to do that position or she can't do what Radinova does? Which I have to say sounds odd to me.

I think she does it for +GOE, since the level of flexibility required both for her legs and back are way harder than a normal Biellmann. Look at the arch of her back: http://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/1362093/julia-lipnitskaya.jpg and she is doing that while making a standing split.

Now look at Radionova's and notice how her back leg isn't in a 180° angle with her front leg - it requires less flexibility to do so: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/23/bc/33/23bc337eabbbdb7258cea2558f2a5806.jpg

And even less with, let's say, Mao's: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5286/5304097069_bd33e3a3a0_z.jpg

This is my understanding, though, and I'm far from an expert.

Thanks bell. That's what I thought too.
It must be for the GoEs because there is no reason for her not to be able to do what Radionova does.
I like how Yulia does it, but I would love to see her doo the position that Radionova does. It's beautiful.

And this is where the IJS makes me stabby. Let's trade a beautiful line/position for points. Not the fault of the skaters, of course. They are doing what they have to do to win competition.

I used to love Angela's, Sarah Hughes, Sasha's, Naomi Nari Nam, Ye Bin Mok and Midori's layback spins.

I think Yulia's Biellmann is nice too. It's unique--(almost?) no one else does it. I do personally prefer watching a Denise Biellmann/Mao Asada type Biellmann, but I'm all for variety.

Alissa Czisny in my mind had a tremendous layback. Sad that I only came across her videos long after she had retired. :slink:

Rudy Galindo, Adam Rippon and Victor Petreko have used them regularly in programs...to the point that you notice when they don't include it. I'd say Rudy's is the best among the men, followed by Adam.

BTW, Here is Rohene's.

Thanks (and thanks to Newbiespectator for the head's up on Takahashi). I just had to watch Rudy Galindo's entire program again, a feel good story for Christmas Eve. :yay:
