They trained in USA with Marina till now. I know Margaglio is working as a tech specialist, at least with footwork.

I am concerned with Russian federation involvement. They don't know ice dance tech.

I hope Kaitlin and Jean Luc have cleaned up their paso sequence since Rostelecom.

Wishing lots of luck for everyone in the group, especially Nelli/Alex. I love their avant-garde style

Anyone else really tired of the paso doble at this point? Can we just skip to the free dance to see the teams really show their styles? (And there are only 8 teams here, imagine how it will be at Worlds :slink:)

Sorta have to agree with this.

Well, sometimes depends on the skaters also. I&Z got good levels on their SD for example.

I would bet that's because they worked with Najarro, who is a paso expert. I know the Montreal group went to Spain over the summer to learn from actual Flamenco dancers as well. Any chance that Marina hired a paso expert, or no?

That is part of it. I/Z have solid skating skills as well. Their short dance is the only one I absolutely love at this point. They have the tech and the presentation. Best SD this season imo.

I have no idea, but she has done Paso so many times.
Still, twizzels and footworks level, for example, doesn't need too much epxertise tbh. The main difficulty is to execute them and be consistent.
Errors on twizzels is hardly the tech specialist fault.

I agree.

I agree that they do have some of the best skating skills out of any team this season - it's apparent. I've watched their Carmen from RC so many times too, it never gets old It's a great vehicle for them, and Najarro/Kustarova/Alexeeva did a good job of fitting it to their strengths - which can't be said of many of the SDs this season.

They are still below world medal level in tech. I mean c/b have a davis and white type margin over them.

Kaitlin and Jean-Luc really improved! Their feet looked a lot better and sharper than before. Their edges are beautiful! That dual spread eagle was really nice, I liked it a lot. I think they just need to hit with their upper bodies more - the arms looked kind of soupy instead of staccato.

I agree! My husband was asking me if I was sick to death of watching their RC short dance lol. I find something new and interesting about it every time I watch it. Seeing so many pasos can be boring but if a team makes it their own it can be interesting and exciting. I don't think the other teams have captured that.

For now. They are scoring well for only being together 6/7 months. I am sure they have buckled down since RC. They can only get better and seem to be consistent so far.

They are a new team. Hardly a surprise. I would say the same about S&K.
I actually was surprised to see I&Z at this level so soon. Did you expect them to challenge the top couples so soon? Give them time.

Twizzles very out of sync for Nelli and Alex. She's a far better skater than he is, she's very expressive. I liked the lift at the end though, as well as the ending pose. They actually hold it, unlike some teams. Their programs are never boring though, that's for sure :)
