wowow...Mao so sad for her. I know she wouldn't be in top 3, but hoping for at least in final group. wow....i feel for her coz she knows, without the 3+3, she has to go for 3A for any chance of getting into the podium. Sad to see all Japanese ladies bombs. Hopefully they can redeem in Fs and at world champ.

Yu na Kim is ahead by more than a point - Adelina and Carolina are putting together at the right time though adelina came in higher than ever not just because it is Sochi it is because of the previous results this year. Carolina let those girls get ahead of her so Adelina gets to get ahead when it should be Carolina in second maybe first

Yu na Kim Adelina and Carolina is like 2006 Cohen Slutskaya Arakawa

however, Yu na Kim is Asian so Carolina will have the best chance with Gracie Gold

I think really Yu na Kim is against Gracie in this competition and they are four continents country representatives they should combine to counter the russians:eek:

Wow, what an interesting short program. Polina, Gracie and Ashley all did great. The Judges are sending a message to Yuna. If you want the Gold Medal you have to earn it. No resting on your past laurels. Carolina and Adelina were awesome and knocking on the door for gold. I feel sorry for Yulia though. How much pressure she must have been under and what a burden for a tiny 15 year old. I hope it gives her fire in her long program.

From what I saw, I totally agree that the Russians should not be 2nd and 5th but rather 3rd and 6th (I didn't see Polina, so maybe Yulia should be even lower).

WOW, very unexpected results.

Sotnikova should not have received PCS that high (for the record, Kim's was still higher), and neither should Julia. Their Russian PCS inflation was in full swing.

But Sotnikova should certainly be 3rd comfortably. Her lead over Gold and Lipnitskaia is about right in terms of points, but they should all be about 2 points less in score.

Yay for Wagner making the final flight! Too bad it came at Mao's expense. Mao, Mao, Mao... 27th in TES scores. That is SHOCKING.

I would name this competition as Sotnikova save Russia.

Eat this anyone who doesn't believe in russianflation and that Kim will leave clean Russian behind in dust (But she really has great performance though).

I'm devastated for Mao; as well as Akiko and Kana.

3 US Women in the Top 7, wasn't expecting that!
Well, that’s the optimist’s way of looking at it. 
How sad for Mao. 
With the top three having scores of 74+ what is the scenario for any of the others with 65s or 68s making podium. (I mean in a real world, where JL doesn’t get Russflation.)

If Yuna goes clean, even relatively, and is beaten by Adelina, I won't be impressed. They are not in the same universe.

Medals seem obvious. Large gap there unless Adelina, Carolina do quite poorly and Gracie kills it. Yulia still has a shot since she's Russian. Ashley is pretty much out of it.

wow Mao

I don't understand why Mao was so stubborn and insistent in keeping that 3A jump with her success rate post Vancouver. Why not go a safer route, even take a deduction on a flutz combo (Lipnitskaia got away with it ;)?

Or atleast if another Olympics is ever held in Russia, figure skating should be cancelled for those Games or held in a seperate country.

No kidding. I'm not usually a politiks conspiracist but the judging here is appalling.

Since when is a 3toe-3toe and juniorish skating worthy of 74+?!?!??!

Carolina shouldn't have been as close to Yuna either.

Too much wrong.

I'm heartbroken for Mao and Lipnitskaia needs a big hug!

Julia should definitely be lower than 5th with a downgraded fall. Although I suppose if Kostner can be 2nd at Worlds last year with a fall, on Russian ice, Lipnitskaia would get the same treatment. I haven't seen the protocols, but I'm also betting they didn't call her flutz (which certainly was a flutz on replay).
