I loved the pairs the most. Sofia was wonderful. Really like k and A in dance. Thought they were much more interesting and creative.
I am annoyed that K/A free dance wasn’t available as a separate clip to add to my 2023 list. Have to check if they uploaded it yet…

I'm not really into ice dance, my favorites disciplines are pairs and ladies, first time I saw then was in the test skates with the rymth dance since then I love them, and now I'm following the hole thing

Btw, the free skate video is now available!

This fancam is great too. In some ways better than an official broadcast.

Want to say something about this: Channel One does an amazing job with the events they cover.

I’ve praised them more than once regarding the live TV events and the buildup to the events, as their promos are second to none. Just amazing hype packages.

But, the camera work sometimes gets hectic. It’s like they decide to go all cinematic during the skates and start jump cuts or going to a wide shot without warning.

No need for all that rigamarole; just focus on the skater and move with them. This doesn’t have to be an award winning cinematography thing. Just keep it simple.

Funny how ISU is blocking people from watching an International event whereas 1tv is giving a livestream to a national event even though their main youtube channel has been taken down. Seems like the Russian care more about us international fans than ISU

And sometimes their cameras have different colours for no reason.

They block videos on their channel because of the copyright.

Honestly, as long as they don’t cut to the coaches or insert a split window with someone in the backroom during a skate, I am fine with them self-expressing. Maybe one pet peeve is top-down view of a spin.

But, like, nothing beats camera work in Zagreb (I think?) last year, when the camera guy obviously went to grab a bite or pee, and just left the camera centered on the middle. So, like, the pair guy would toss the lady, she’d fly out of the camera’s view, and we are left in suspense on the outcome of the element. Mom and I still have fits of laughter when we remember that, ‘landed, not landed? Who knows… shrodinger’s triple Throw).

Of course. I’m on the Russian ladies’ side over the ISU’s and I’m glad Channel 1 is covering the sport. They know what they are doing.

The camera work is a small, small situation compared to what the rest of the world has to go through to watch skating.

I wanted to put “inferior” in between “watch” and “skating” in my last sentence above, but I didn’t because I don’t want to rile people up. Haha

Like I said before, my complaint is a small one. It won’t stop me from watching of course.

That second paragraph is classic. Haha
Luckily, ice hockey isn’t big in Croatia. That camera operator couldn’t handle 10 skaters on the rink at the same time.

Or, you can become a judge if you think you can do better.
Maybe not such a bad idea after all. Giving ratings according to personal taste and even brazenly flouting the rules. I think I can still do it that way.

Good luck in your quest.
Here is some study material to get you on your way:

https://isu.org/figure-skating/rule.../24781-tphb-single-skating-2020-21-final/file

As for your article, there is an easy fix to that: just have the software make the deductions automatically. One fall and it won’t let you enter any value higher than 9.50, 2 false and it won’t let your enter a value higher than 8.75 or whatever.

People aren’t prefect. You can’t have such a complicated system without some automated help.

I'm curious about the score you would give to Valieva for that free skate.

Well, basically my rating wouldn't matter at all, because under the Kosmos slogan given out, any rating lower than +5 would automatically be the worst and will therefore be deleted.
