There was a bit of confusion with the graphic at the start of the Warm-Up. There were only 2 that went out onto the ice, and I could see that Sam was one of them. But, at first, the graphic said that he was the one that was missing. After a few failed attempts at fixing it, they eventually got it right.

It was actually skater #2 Albert MUCK (AUT) that was missing. So, Sam goes a bit earlier than planned.

Let's hope things go better for Sam here than they did for Elizabeth in Minsk earlier.

Thankfully, it was a lot better than Elizabeth. Sam just had the one fall, which was early on in the programme. But everything else after it looked fine to me.

Mmmm. Sam doesn't have his Mum with him today. Don't know who that coach was, but he had to rush away, so I assume he has somebody else skating in the next group. That said, he did come running back for the scores (and a hug), before rushing off again.

He scores 60.73 points, and goes into the lead, 4.38 points ahead of Valentin EISENBAUER (AUT).

And that is a new absolute PB for the Short Programme!!!



It surpasses his previous highest score of 59.49 points from the 2019 Tayside Trophy by 1.24 points.

Congratulations to Julia Sauter of Romania for earning the minimum TES for Worlds . She delivered a clean short program with a 3T-3T <, a 2A, a 3S, level 3 Step Sequence and all level 4 spins. She changed her layout from her last competition opting for the 3S which is more consistent for her. She already has the Free TES from a competition in Nice, France during the Fall.

The first half of the programme was great.

But, it fell apart in the middle. He had a pop, a fall, and another pop.

The last section wasn't bad. But, the damage had already been done.

When he finished, he was so angry and frustrated with himself.

At least his coach was able to sit with him today. (Who I have now realised is actually female. Well, she wasn't in shot long enough yesterday for me to notice her figure!) And they had some good craic with each other. So, he's in good enough spirits.

He scores 105.88 points in the FS, bringing him to 166.61 points overall. This means he drops a place behind Neuman in both. So, if he is to win a medal, he needs Spinar to drop behind both of them.

And after a long few days, that resurfacing brings us to the final competition of the Dragon Trophy. And I notice that we are actually down to 7 skaters rather than the 8 skaters I thought we were down to. Lorena CIZMEK (HRV) also withdrew.

Jade Hovine (BEL) just made senior TES for the free, with Belgium having 2 spots for worlds 2022, she very well could be there. she just needs a clean short at her next competition to get the Short program TS.

Wow Tara Prasad (IND) also made the free TSminimum! Her jumps looked so much improoved since 4CC, and her artistry and musicallity are quite lovely.
