From a Chicks A double-bill, we move to a Cubs triple-bill. 11 A girls; followed by 4 A boys; followed by 17 B girls. The A competitions are combined. A group of 7 girls; followed by a group containing 4 girls and 4 boys.

The first of the boys was doing an Irish programme!!! (I can never remember which music is from Riverdance, and which is from Lord Of The Dance).

He had a whole pile of gifts thrown down to him, and it took ages for him to gather them all up, but he was determined to do it all on one go.

As he was coming off the ice, the next boy fell three times. And I thought, "Oh, this is ominous".

Anyway, when the camera went back to the results area, guess who was waiting for the first boy. A couple of Selevkos! (I forgot to mention, they were also with one of the skaters in the previous boys competition).

Should we be getting worried that we have cacti coaching younger skaters?

I should add, the first skater had a fall during his programme.

By the way, the second boy didn't fall during his programme. So, he has got it right. Fall when it doesn't matter, and don't when it does.

He goes into 2nd.

And that was our last boys competition for today. It's all girls for the rest of the day. And we begin our quintuple-bill of girls by completing our Cubs triple-bill. 17 B girls, arranged into a group of 8; followed by a group of 9.

I spoke too soon. And tempted fate.

The first of the Cubs B girls skated to "Bad Cover".

Mind you, she looked to be having a lot of fun out there.

Awwww. That was lovely.

The two girls that were sitting with the first skater were holding up a big hand-drawn poster with her name, 2024, a skate , a pink heart , three stars , an Estonian flag , a rainbow , a Christmas tree , and two diamonds on it.

Skater #4 started off skating to "Goo Goo Muck" by the Cramps!!!



I don't think I've ever seen somebody skate to that. But, I would love to see more do! (What I would have given to have a Short Dance done to it this season, given that it is from 1981. It could have been one of those programmes we remember for years!)

But then the music changed to that version of Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary" that I reckoned sounded like the Chipettes! Except, to add insult to injury, this time it was speeded up.

It really spoiled the mood.

She goes into 2nd position.

Oh, another resurfacing in the middle of a competition.

The last girl before the Zamboni came on had with her her coach and the boy that I was talking about falling a whole pile of times in his warm-up. (I wound back to check, and this was the girl that was sitting with him when he was getting his results).

And he was wearing and sucking on a Ring Pop! I haven't seen those since I was his age!

She went into 7th.

Boys, that was a quick resurfacing. It finished before I finished writing this!

That is the second time today I have been caught out by a girl in a bright pink dress, and thinking it has to be either a Pink Panther or Barbie programme.

Nope. The last time it was an Indian programme. This time, it was "Nothing Else Matters". Although, it wasn't Metallica. It was a female singer whose voice was too sweet for a rock song.

Skater #10 goes into 9th position.

I don't know how to describe Skater #11's programme. You have to see it to believe it.

The music, the dress, everything was just way out there!

It was something that French Ice Dancers would be proud of!

She goes into 4th position.

Don't you hate it when that happens! You hear an instrumental version of a song you know, and you are singing along to it in your head, but you can't place what the song is!

That is what just happened with me and Skater #15's music.

She finished very early, and she tried waving her arms to make it look as if she wasn't finished early. And she eventually got fed up doing that, and got into her finishing position and waited.

So, I was surprised when she didn't get any deductions.

She still went into 14th and last position (Skater #14 was a withdrawal).

Now that the Cubs are finished, it is time for a Young double-bill. 11 younger girls; followed by 12 older girls. And this is a combined competition. A group of 7 younger girls; followed by a group containing 4 younger girls and 4 older girls; followed by a group of 8 older girls.

I will be leaving to eat during this, and I'm not sure if I will be back afterwards.

We finish Saturday off with a double-bill of B competitions. 3 Juniors; followed by 6 Novices. I'm not sure if they will be combined, but I will do them both in this post and then edit it if it turns out that they are skating separately.

EDIT: They are combined. Or, at least, there are a lot more than 3 skaters on the ice!​

Just finished watching today's action.

Awwww. That was lovely.

The older of the two girls that was holding up the poster was the last girl to skate today, Skater #6 in Novice B. And after she finished, the three of them were sitting together again, but this time they had a boy along with them. The younger girl that was helping her hold the poster earlier was holding another one. Unfortunately, because she is smaller, she wasn't holding it up high enough for us to see it properly. What I did see of it had her name, 2024, a Christmas tree , a pink heart , and three stars .

She went into 5th position.

Oh, and another thing I noticed - Skater #1 from Cubs B was now wearing glasses.

It appears it was a mistake to have my cereal at the end of the first competition. I thought I would have enough time to eat it in the 10 minutes to the start of the second competition. And I did. Except that the second competition started 5 minutes early!

Oh, I hope there is a resurfacing at the end of this competition that I can get caught up in.

Awww. She may have been mixing cultures a bit, but I loved that programme from Skater #25.

She was dressed in the poor version of traditional Scottish clothing, and skating to "Lord Of The Dance".

To be fair, I have a feeling that the first piece of music might have been from "Braveheart". I recognised it, but I can't remember for sure where it came from.

She goes into 4th position.

Oh no. When the final skater's score were announced, she dropped her head into her hands and started crying.



She went into 14th position.

Not the way you want a competition to end.
