Meryl's dress is spectacular. (http://i.imgur.com/SaqrQ.jpg) I find this team to be hit/misss with costumes. I think the only one I liked of Belbin/Agusto was the black/blue tango dress for the CD the year she fell. I can't remember what year it was though.

I really liked Meryl & Charlie's outfits for their Bollywood OD. In fact, I liked almost everything about it, but particularly the straight line not touching footwork:

While Bollywood is not my thing, I appreciated the costumes. Very detailed. If I'm not mistaken, there is a vibrant Indian community in Detroit. Didn't they consult several Indian sari designers for authenticity?

Fashion my subject, :cool:although my fav dress go with the fav performances usually!
The lady I liked all her dresses was Sasha´s , all were very carefully chosen, my highlight was the canary one and the total white swan lake from 2004, but If i can take one sp dress in a desert island it is her 2006 sp dress, the colors , the skirt everything was amazing, the highlight of Olympics for me and I havent seen such gorgeous dress since then. My absolute dress.
♥♥♥
Next is Mao´s 2007 sp beautiful red dress before the choke era and Yuna´s Dance Macambre dress. I think Yuna is the only lady I like in black.
Costner also choses great dresses for me ,although little small and out of tone for her, but I love 2009 both her dresses and 2007 lp dress I think, one pink /vanilla with strange skirt and her blue stars sp.
Alissa ´s dress from 2009 season that i saw in Cor , one deep red with bare back!
Lepisto and Kira have also simple but gorgeous dresses. Sara Meir had a great Mambo dress last season!

Dresses have changed alot, so i cant really compare these to the next , from before the 2006 I cant believe none said the dress of Kwan from Song of the black swan, this is the top for me, classy and simple(less is more)! From her I also love
Rachmaninoff (2002) amazing dress or the East of eden 2001 orange dress , skate and dress I wont ever forget so I cant choose which of both, coming next Scheherazade , The feeling begins and Arranguez dresses. I dont think black was her color at all btw.
Irina´s wonderland dress for the same as East of Eden reason, and the gorgeous yellow blue one she wore in 2004 sp. And Botyrskaya´s 1999 lp dress which would would strange now but it worked so great with her program I still remember it. And one super sexy Chicago dress from an american lady I dont remember now, that all had said wow?

From exhibitions, Ando´s white 2011 ex program was wonderful, Kwan famous gold dress but mostly one blue she had (i cant remember the exhibition), Mao´s white ballet type dress from last season was her best ever for me, Yuna´s Meditation dress and one white very feathery she wore some couple of years ago.

Worst for me were Arakawa´s dress which was half legging half skirt (i think for swan program), and one more I think from worlds 2004 lp that looked with no existent skirt that reached the type of Witt´s skirt you talk about. And it had a strange back.
Ando´s cleopatra all versions of it except maybe Cor were baaad, an awful blue of Slutskaya of 2001 that had too much skin fabric like she wore nothing, and I hate asymmetric dress that go diagonal in the front also so the list can go long.

Now I have to find the links of all these dresses?

Yeah, everybody remember Witt for showing too much, but Arakawa was no different (not that this bothers me!)!
In 2004 she showed a lot with that no existent skirt and the thong. = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xzGdVragbo

That was her best program ever. She really showed personality. Sadly, I had never seen it before or after in any of her programs.

I agree that Kirk's "Chicago" program was lovely. I would add to it the "Die Fledermaus' program. Her ballet training really suited the nineteenth-century operetta vibe of the program.

I'd like to add Nancy Kerrigan to the best list. She had her own style and always looked elegant in her competitive days. I especially liked her 1992 Short and long programs and 1994 Long.

There are too many worst for me to single anyone out.

That first one (Black Swan) was from the GPF in 2001. That other one (with the blue and lace that looks very similar to Carolina Kostner's SP dress from this past season)...I can't freakin' find the link! It looks like it was from around 2001/2002...but I can't remember which competition it was.

It was her Claire de Lune SP at 4CC in 2009. She only wore it that one time and unfortunately it wasn't a good performance. The one arm and open back, plus the color and sheer material really worked here. I thought she looked lovely...even if the skating wasn't. :p

thank you so much, kwanatic. i'm enjoying the trip down memory lane :)

Yuna's always had nice dresses. I can't think of any dress of her's that I haven't liked.

I really liked this dress on Alissa http://cache2.asset-cache.net/xc/73...68AE1A4A3CD55E4F98D73B95C539956A837478B9A5C7A , and this one from wayy back http://www.usfigureskating.org/content/events/200506/skatecanada/action/czisny-sp.jpg

As for bad outfits, I really didn't like Christina Gao's FS dress from 09-10 http://eurasia-sports.net/_src/sc3843/09-gpf-jrl011.jpg, the style was too baby-ish and the neckline made her look like she was slouching. Interestingly enough, I loved her SP dress from the same season http://www.nkysc.com/images/nkyscSkaters.jpg.

Mao's dresses are really hit or miss. I liked the lavender one she wore for her FS this past season, but not as much as the one she wore at Japan Open http://rinksidecafe.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/mao-japan-open-2010.jpg
which I thought was gorgeous and wish she had worn again.

Worst costumes I've seen recently though would have to be this number from Kanako http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1VXdluOHe...B0Y/3ExSLfTU9KU/s1600/Kanako+Murakami+LP1.jpg (just way too busy and not a flattering cut either) and Polina Shelepen's neon unitard http://davecskatingphoto.com/photos/2009GPF/juniors/ladies/IMG_2164a.jpg (what was she thinking when she picked that costume??)

Silverlake22, ITA about Kanako and Polina! Kanako's dress couldn't seem to make up it's mind, and Polina's was just...wrong. Lol!

Another person who has had some bad dresses is Miki. There are very few of her's I like. Most of Miki's dresses are just too much...way to much going on...

She went through so, so, so, so many outfits for her Cleopatra LP last year. The only one I liked was the one she wore at the Olympics. It was still over done, but it made her look longer which improved her lines.

I hated these disasters too: Waaay to much going on in this dress. Same thing with this, and the colors with all the crossing patterns and the jewels...way too much.

I really like Miki when she goes simple...less over done and more classic, minus all of the details and shredded fabric and three and four colors. This one is so much better, and this too. This dress is probably my favorite, with this year's LP dress as well. Those worked very nicely for her...

Hopefully, she'll realize, along with Kanako and Mao, that less is definitely better. ;)
