Most of these lutzes are actually quite good. I disagree with the way that the top placements shook out, but that's not a new conversation.

Very interesting. Quite a contrast between the mature skaters like Yuna Kim (in 2013) and even Kaetlyn Osmond, compared to the youngsters that have come to dominate more recently.

Yuna Kim, Kostner and Tuktamysheva have the best lutzes. It is laughable that Medvedeva, Osmond, Trusova, Panenkova, Konstantinova, Eunsoo Lim and Valieva all have some of the best lutzes according to the judges.

Polina Tsurskaya only at #9? :/

That said, this ranking is kinda meaningless because there are so many different panels, not to mention different scoring criteria.

Lol, how well did Julia Sebestyen score on it again? She did compete under IJS iirc.

This was when GOE was stingy and Julia wasn’t really a “top” contender, so I’m sure she wouldn’t have gotten the credit her lutz deserved.

The generous GOE showered upon obvious flutzes by multiple judging panels does not exactly inspire confidence in figure skating judging.

ISU's said time after time that scores between events aren't comparable and people just don't listen. This is completely pointless and meaningless.

ISU's said time after time that scores between events aren't comparable.

And yet they constantly recognize, and even require, season's best scores and world record scores. How convenient. It matters when they want it to matter, but then poor judging can just be explained away with "well, it was just that one competition..." (although Medvedeva's lutz edge not being called was a constant problem).

Lack of consistency and different standards in judging different competitions is a huge problem with the sport and ISU should work on improving it instead of giving it as an excuse for their judges' incompetence and bias. If everyone applied the GOE bullets and PCs criteria correctly and called levels and edges strictly, the scores would be very much comparable.

I do not believe "GOE bullets" and "PCS criteria" are things to be applied. They are guidelines. Some out there really would like to see the best pure jump qualities to give it the top GOE, when the bullets would have them give it for something less than that.

The problem is proper training and selection of judges.

Viktoria Volchkova had a gorgeous Lutz. It was so high that the crowd gasped. Myself included..........:cheer2:

ISU's never recognized world record scores, or at least that's what they say.

It's true that they note season's best. To be fair, that at least is more accurate than all-time, since scoring can vary wildly between seasons, mostly in sync with the Olympic cycle.

ISU may not compare, but GOE inflation is clearly evident. Since we haven't had this Olympic cycle completed we can't say for sure, but maybe it isn't as bad as before? There were many skaters younger than Alina/Med with better lutzes that came after them in the ranking (including Russians). There was a massive GOE battle during that cycle, also Osmond is so high up

So, no Wakaba, Miki Ando...Though for Ando judges were probably more conservative before 2013.
Tuk, Kim, Kawabata, Yamashita, Tsurskaya and Tarakanova are the ones deserving GOEs that high.
