Great skating from the top teams. D/S were clearly the best. Their presentation of the dance was spot on and I could not take my eyes of them. I also thought the judging was fair tonight.
Sorry. this is a bit off topic, but I like to ask.
I wonder why Tracy is doing a commentor for the US coverage, not for the Canadian's.
Do not get me wrong, I love to have her for the US TV
as she is one of my favourite commentators.
And we do not have many talented ones for Icedace besides Susie whom I really like as well.
But Tracy definitely has more credential for the big games like Olympics
since she is one of a few North American Icedace medalists.
Then I wonder if it is simply because of money NBC offers to her is more than Canadian TV does,
or any other reasons?
I do not know who is doing the canadian TV coverage on Icedance now,
and do not know much about Canadian media in general either.
But I do kow Tracy does it for the Canadian TV time to time,
then why they let her go to NBC for this big game, hmmmmmm.
Can some Canadian skate fans enlighten me on this?
Okay what was with the blankets for Dom/Shab, I am Australian, and cannot stand them and their racist attitude, they should have been banned from competition based on racist content. so really what was with the blankets? Was it some sort of PC marketing ploy to win over the judges? I cannot stand them if there is any justice, they will go home empty handed and end this Russian dominance for sure.
Okay once again, this is why I cannot stand ice dancing, and it is truly fixed, the couples who have been around in the senior ranks the longest IE Del/Sch and the Kerrs, are underscored and upity V/M and D/W, honestly I do not see the big deal or what all of the hype is all about, the only time I actually enjoyed watching Tessa and Scott skate was back in 2004 their Swing, Rock 'n Roll, Jive, Blues combination OD. That's it.
I am also grateful for Tracy Wilson. It's good to have an expert do ice dancing commentary.
Surprisingly (to me), I liked Tanith and Ben's CD today the best. They acted it the best, imo. The hard work (on the edges & lines & posture) showed, too.
Who knew CDs could be so interesting?
Miss having Tracy on the Canadian network. I'm pleasantly surprised by Victor Kraatz. He always seemed on the quiet side, but I find his tone and presence reassuring. Jennifer Robinson on the other hand - tuned in to CTV and noticed this woman pouting at the camera and thought "Whoa, who is this woman with the attitude?" and then realized it was her. She adamantly described D/S's skating today as sloppy and slow - to which I thought, "Pot, meet kettle." I was surprised to read all the positive comments about D/S here. I'm a little concerned she might give the wrong impression to the Canadian public about the judging in subsequent segments. I might be tuning in to NBC for the rest of the ice dance coverage from now on.

Hm, that must be it, although I didn't notice. As to the pure sharpness, S&B, for instance, are always sharp I thought, and yet they aren't at the same level yet.According to the commentators I was listening to, they mentioned that their footwork wasn't as sharp as the other couples, especially Benjamin's so that's probably where they lost the marks.
Thanks guys for telling me about Tracy's situation.
I am mosdef grateful for her to help us to understand the icedance better.
And I totally forgot that Sandra is a Canadian too,
whom I wish Tracy could replace (sorry, Sandra).
But it is kind a shame that US has to borrow two people from Canada for commentating
despite of the fact that there are so many champion skaters of the past.
Maybe we need a school for those medalists to be good commentators of the future.
Who is Klara Engi???
OMG, the First Nations blankets!
