Have G/P not done as well as they have? Where have they been weak? It looks like they will finish 14th here.
QUOTE]

They fell in one of the two early phases...the waltz, I think. Then they had one obvious off-balance problem today (but not a fall).

They were 11th at last year's worlds. I was hoping for a top 10 finish here.

you have to remember that 3 teams that will place above them did not compete at last year's worlds..so that would be 14th. Due to the unfortunate withdraw of D&L, G&P should move up a spot, and as Frau pointed out they had a fall earlier, hence the slip in standings.

I am nervous for the US dance teams going into Worlds. B/A and G/P might not place high enough for three teams to go to World in 2007. I want to see Morgan and Max make their big international SPLASH next year.

I think we will get 3 spots. N&K are ending thier amature skating in Turino, I doubt that the Italians will go to Calgary. OTOH, I suspect that D&V may try for that elusive gold.

then there are other veteran couples who may call it quits. The Worlds after the Olympics usually have very diluted fields.

I am rooting for Jaime and Ryan though... or Tiff and Sergei..or Jennifer and daniil. And my new favorites - Nick Traxler and Charlette Maxwell. I like them all!!!! Can we get 7 spots for the US team :))))

I have this funny feeling that Domnina/Shabalin are being 'groomed' for the podium beginning in 2007. If they finish in top-five at this year's Worlds, my suspicions will be confirmed.

I prefered Navarro/Bommetre most of all at Nationals, beside Tan & Ben! I'm rooting for them. Gorgeous freedance!

Well, it wouldn't be ice dance (or pairs) if they didn't have a Russian team groomed to take the next OGM, would it?

I bet in 2010 a Chinese pairs wins pairs and a team not Russian wins dance. I think ladies and men in the next 4 years is too hard to predict right now.

Warm-up of final group...in corner, waiting to come onto the ice!

Chris & Simon back on, reporting.

Order:
Grush/Gonch...try to hold on to podium
Navka/Kosto...in lead overall
Denkova/Stavisky...always crowd faves
Belbin/Agosto...America's best chance for gold at these Olys
Delobel/Schoenfelder...with a shot at a medal

FINAL GROUP NOW CALLED! They're on the ice!!! Wooohoooo!

The Russians in the crowd have their little chant going....

Tan & Ben relaxed...seem to be really enjoying the Oly experience.

"You at home get your drink, sit back & enjoy! It will be a roller-coaster ride in next 40 minutes!!!" says Simon.

Hopefully N/K make a few little mistakes. ;)
