I think this was the best episode of ER in several seasons. The hype the last week or two was a bit unbearable, but NBC knew they had a compelling show and wanted to make sure people saw it, so I guess all is forgiven.
Ray Liotta was great, the way that the different characters were woven in and out of the central story was deftly handled, and (for once) not hit-you-over-the-head. The only trick was the 'real time' factor - while it was a bit distracting to have Sara Gilbert yelling out the time every minute in the first part of the show, this too was uncharacteristically understated. I rarely cry at movies or television, but my eyes were definitely teary at the end. Good job!!
