He is always realist and honest. I'm sure many people angry with him because of this opinion. But this is just the truth.

I like that attitude. I hate when people, skaters in this case, smile all the times and say nice things just to please others and be politically correct.
I'm not saying youshould be arrogant or offensive towards others, but you should be able to express your opinion without been all that.

The thing I like about Russian men is they don't play saints. But it's in their culture. Asian people are different. Even if they have opinions, they are taught from young not to express too much. I don't think Asian people are fake for not expressing too much, it's just their culture. But I think "playing the princess role" mostly applies for ladies. I see that Asian men are just honest as Western men. It's just they are more shy when it comes to express themselves.

I know about Asian and that kind of approach, attitude, but the NA for example are not taught like that.
On the contrary they like to think of themselves as being honest but most of the times I haven't seen that.
For example, I didn't like how Scott (Tessa as well) handle their many interviews about Sochi result.
They were clearly not happy with the result, and suggested something was wrong but wouldn't say what and why, while Plushy was direct and said this and that was not right, about Vancouver.
At least Asian skaters do not contest judges decision, as far as I know. So, the moment you do that, better say what you have to say, no?

Agree, if they have nothing nice to say, then don't say it. If they think the judges' scores are questionable then better say exactly what they think but not in the offensive way. And true I haven't seen any Asian skaters contest the judges decisions, especially Japanese skaters, they tend to be very closed up and never say anything about scores.
I don't follow ice dancing except Elena and Ruslan, so I don't know what Scott and Tessa were saying in the interviews about Sochi. Do you have some links?

There are many, but some:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvXS8lO00MU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSqsaDHCpMs

In one of these interviews, don't remember which one they said one of the biggest lie. It was about Adelina and Alla, hugging.
Scott said: We never meet with the judges. We stay away from them, or something like that.

By the way, I'm their big fan and I think they should've won in Sochi. I do not have anything against saying their objections, on the contrary, but I hate whinning.

from his official:

Except part which is already translated, Plushy also talked (again) about Sochi withdrawal and surgery. About current men's skating today, he said that Yuzuru Hanyu is skater from "another planet", that worked with him on some jump details during the show last summer because Yuzuru asked him for advice. About Russian younger skaters - will be interesting to see Artur Gachinski with new coach... about Kovtun.... maybe they can be among first 3 skaters in Europe, in World among 5th... he can not say anything specifically, because they are unstable, not consistent...

http://olympictalk.nbcsports.com/20...e-this-season-figure-skating-olympics-russia/

Have we had this part of it posted here?

"translation...

Plushenko said that he not experiencing back pain

Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko said that recovery from spinal surgery, which he had after the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014, is going well. Athlete does not experience back pain.

- I feel much better. Do not disturb me the spine, injuries - said the skater on the TV channel "Russia 2". - But this sports season I will miss. I will participate in commercial performances. If my health will be good, then, maybe, i will continue to compete and try to qualify for a fifth Olympics."

Apologies if it was already posted, but I can't recall having seen it.

Thanks for the translations. He didn't really say anything we don't know already, but I'm always glad to hear he's in good health. I wish the reporter would've asked him about more current things, like the Japan Open and the Snow King, though....4 years to the next Olympics is a long way away.

let`s talk corrected the translation( we knew her, she was a great poster here, he can speak Russian, English and Japanese. But she was banned:eek:hwell:)

"Not correct translation about Kovtun and Hanyu. Plushenko said:

"This season I was skating with Chinese and Japanese skaters (*in shows in this context- LT). Japanese are surely from another planet. They are top contenders in all competitions, especially Yuzuru Hanyu."
....................................................

(on the question: who of Russian Men can be in top 5 in major international competitions)

It's quite realistic in Europe where our guys can be in top 3 actually. I especially want to congratulate Seryozha Voronov and Kostya Menshov. These two guys have been skating for a long time and finally they did it (*medaled at Europeans- LT). There is also Artur Gachinskij who left Alexei Nikolaevich Mishin for a new coach, so I am very interested to see him this season. There is Kovtun. I just don't know how the guys will skate this season, but it's very possible for them to be in top 3 in Europe and probably in top 5 at Worlds. Try to understand that it's really difficult for me to say anything certain because the guys are not consistent. It's not like when Lyosha Yagudin was skating, and if somebody asked me then about him, I would answer: he will be in top 3. Because I knew this athlete, I knew my rival. He would surely be in top 3."
................................................................

Plushenko was speaking in high regards about all Japanese skaters and their work ethics to J-media too when he was in Japan.

He didn't mean specifically Kovtun as the Russian skater who can be in top 3 in Europe and in top 5 at Worlds. He was speaking about Team Russian Men.

The reference to Yag is probably the reference to the times when Men, i.e. rivarly Plu&Yag, were more consistent than top skaters now. "

There's a tension in NA about being honest and being PC. You're supposed to be both, but if you're too much of the former, you come across as not PC. I think Tessa and Scott were trying to toe that line, so in that sense I understand them (Tessa came across better than Scott though). But I also understand why you'd be annoyed with them taking half-measures.

To bring the topic somewhat vaguely back to Plushy: I had to laugh when the interviewer said Plushy was the worst-dressed! He should really follow the men's discipline more closely... I'm worried he'd faint if he caught sight of, say, Kulik's giraffe. (As Scott said, there's much worse).

Nooo, not the hair... I refuse to accept this haircut. It makes him look old and I'll forever associate it with the Sochi moment.

Sorry - which interview is this? I got distracted by the competitions and can't keep up with this thread (but I'm trying :) )

The first interview with Tessa and Scott that Alba linked to. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkvaQkXRhN8 It's at about the 7:24 mark.

Thanks. At least Scott tried to set him straight. Of all the things to criticize about Plushy, that should be WAY down the list. He likes his black onesies a little too much, but at least he's never looked like a zoo animal, a molting chicken, or a bedazzled craft project.

Maybe the guy only saw two performances, and they were... Sex Bomb and Asissai. Some of the earlier outfits were pretty flashy (gold MJ, Bolero, ect.)... but frankly, even those wouldn't make any kind of 'worst-dressed in FS' list. I'd actually criticize Plushy for not being ridiculous enough in recent years!

I was referring to the first interview with Tessa and Scott that Alba linked to (yeah, the thread was going off topic). The interviewer mentioned Plushy, by coincidence (Alba linked it for totally different reasons). You can see the link at the top of the page (I linked it again for Gallavich).

Lol, my post must've been truly confusing, to dumbfound both Gallavich and Plushyfan. I should probably organize my thoughts better next time.

It's all right, Alba - on this thread all roads lead back to Plushy eventually... Sandpiper brought us back almost immediately - though, Sandpiper, I'm afraid you must add me to the people you confused with your comment. :) (Initially - it's all straightened out now. :) )
