you can always say, No answer. And as long as your answers do not contain personal or hurtful comments on why you don't like the skater, that's not bashing. You just don't like them. You can't like everyone.

I went back and forth several times on this one. You are right. But it really seems that he has been underdog for all these years. Even in his best year 2004, he had only come in 5th in the Worlds. Of course, he got NHK and TEB that year. And in 2005 he got 4th in the Worlds. Those were such vague memories compare with all these disappointments thereafter.

Brian Boitano (too "arty", before that too dull, tho I will grant that his 88 Olympic run was pretty darn brilliant), Tara Lipinski (the "determined Robot" approach never worked on me and the press coverage she received before winning ANYTHING of note did not sit well with me, tho that's not entirely her fault).

3. Honestly, have you ever cried during a special skating moment?
Yes, when Sale & Pelletier won the Worlds; being in that arena in person while "O Canada" was playing was indescribable; bear in mind, they did it in Canada!!

4. Favorite Skating move?
Originally, the Biellmann, back when Denise B. herself was doing it and it was still a novelty and not an overused, usually not well-executed maneuver; now, I love to see a beautifully executed layback spin.

5. Honestly, who was FIRST favorite skater [maybe going back when you were little]?
I'd have to say Denise Biellmann, who I first saw at the 80 Olys.

6. Favorite program for 06/07 season?
Deloebel & Schoenfelder's "Bonnie & Clyde", Denkova & Staviysky's "7 Deadly Sins", Lambiel's marvelous Flamenco long program.

7. Favorite TV commentator?
Tracy Wilson. Wish we could get her to work more on this side of the border.

8. Favorite UNDERDOG skater [never won a major title]?
Caryn Kadavy. Finest skater to NEVER win the Nationals.....

Anything involving excessive choral/operatic vocals, like Shae-Lynn & Vic's "March With Me", and Denkova & Staviysky's "7 Deadly Sins" (tho I did LOVE the program, as I mentioned.....)

Nobody really stands out (only the WORST stands out with me in that department), tho I've always thought Shen & Zhao had cool costumes.

11. Worst costumes/hairstyle?
Costumes -- ANYTHING ever worn by ALL Ukrainian skaters (except Elena Liashenko), ANY TIME, ANY YEAR. Feathers!! Christmas ribbon!! Excessive sparklies!! If it's the ugliest in the competition, there's a 99% chance it's worn by a Ukrainian! Don't know how Elena L. managed to avoid this. Hairstyle -- Anna Cappellini, 07 Worlds FD -- how much hairspray did that take? Or did it involve pipe cleaners?? Or maybe just electroshock??

12. Do you like the new judging system?
I like the fact that there is more movement in Dance standings and that skaters can now move WAY up after a good long program. I hate the fact that it's just not nearly as exciting to hear "total score of 88.43" as opposed to the reaction you'd get from "6.0!! 6.0!!"

13. Who is the hottest female/male skater?
Men: Kevin van der Perren, Patrice Lauzon, Alexander Smirnov
Women: Silvia Fontana, Isabelle Deloebel

14. Honestly, which skater's personality do you dislike the most?
Johnny Weir can be annoying on occasion. Amusing, but annoying.

Never mastered it. Had to stop because I kept falling on my tailbone and my mother thought it best I stop before ending up in a wheelchair.

I don’t like to watch skaters who move with speed but without fluid stroking, deep knees and edges, or great posture

For the good: when Shizuka Arakawa skated Turandot in Dortmund and when Totmianina/Marinin skated with classic beauty in Torino. For the heartbreaking: Babilonia/Gardner withdrawing from the Olympics. I was in too much shell shock to cry when Debbie Thomas threw it away at the 1988 Olympics.

4. Favorite Skating move?
Any lutz with a deep outside edge and counterbalance, a skill that seems to have ended with the doubles era.

5. Honestly, who was FIRST favorite skater [maybe going back when you were little]?
Peggy Fleming. My first and only skating crush was on John Misha Petkovich, when I was about seven.

6. Favorite program for 06/07 season?
Kristoffer Berntsson’s LP. And Stephane Lambiel's LP. And Virtue/Moir’s FD.

7. Favorite TV commentator?
Howarth and Slater on British Eurosport.

8. Favorite UNDERDOG skater [never won a major title]?
Janet Lynn. (And no, I don't count US Nats as a major title.)

9. Most annoying music skaters choose?
Don Quixote last act Pas de Deux. Ironically, my favorite competitive program by my favorite skater – John Curry’s 1976 Olympics LP – was to this music. (There’s so much more beautiful music in the Don Q score.) Tied with Liebestraum.

I think most skaters's costumes are hit and miss, but my favorites over the last few years have been Kostner's 06-07 LP costume, most of Buttle's, especially Naqoyqatsi, many of Maria Petrova's after the original Chess costumes, Tessa Virtue's FD dress this year.

11. Worst costumes/hairstyle?
Watanabe/Kido. With all the money the Japanese Fed spent on sending them abroad for coaching, you’d think they’d have invested in some decent costumes.

Yes, da, oui, si, ja, hai, tak.

They’re way too young for me to be thinking about hot. (But if I were a straight male with a pulse, I’d have to say Kiira Korpi.)

I wouldn't say I have a least favorite, there have been many I didn't enjoy watching over the years, but never thought much about who I didn't like.

Many, many times. I've been lucky enough to be around for the Kwan era, while everyone else dreams of the one special skate of a lifetime and seldom have it, she's had about 20 skates of a lifetime, each one special in their own way. I was in Philadelphia in 98, I cried a lot.

I like spirals I think best, but there are only a few people's I really enjoy, I really enjoyed Bobek's.

I'm assuming we mean program, not performance, I loved Yu-Na's long and Mao's short.

People rave about Buttle has made COP work, but he bores me beyond any other. I seldom actually watch the whole thing, I went out for a drink mid-program at 4CC.

While I recognize that I am the only one in the world who could possibly think this, but Chengjiang Li (sp?), he makes me gaga.

I don't know any famous skaters.

for actual skating style, Plushenko, although I respect his talent and consistancy, and Surya Bonaly (Could never get over the choppiness and telegraphing of her skating) For bad PR mouthiness and diva like behavior, well, there are others

Several, including some this year (Takahashi at NHK and Worlds, Siudeks winning bronze at Euros, and my boy Griazev's clean FS at Russian Nationals to win the title)

From what I've seen and some things I've heard, Evan Lysacek. Not that I know him personally.

I think that's against the laws of physics. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
