An interesting summary. Too bad the in the above video that the commentator doesn't speak about the controversy of Russia winning over the U.S. ice dance team of Judy Schwomeyer/ James Sladky, at 1970 Worlds. Russia's Pakhomova was good. Her partner, Gorshkov, was not. Judy and Jim had won the compulsories, and they were better in the FD too. The commentator in the history video mainly focuses on the Soviet skaters having introduced more dramatic flair and theatrical moves to ice dance. Of course, Torvill & Dean changed everything when they broke onto the ice dance scene in the late 1970s.
