I thought I'd start this thread to cover any new and interesting news in the world of thoroughbred racing.
Yesterday was the opening day of Saratoga on a muddy track. When it rains in Saratoga, there is no muddier or messier track than Saratoga. John Velazquez and Pablo Fragoso each won two races.
In the first 2YO race of the meet, one of the horses, Honey Fritters, took a right turn soon after the start and dumped her rider, Mike Luzzi. Unfortunately, Mike broke his right femur and had to be hospitalized. He will be out for the entire Saratoga meet.
That's the 3rd jockey in a week that's suffered a serious injury. Alex Solis had broken ribs and a fractured vertebra, and Jose Santos broke HIS leg.
