.......and also won atleast 2 of the next 4 Worlds, and medaled at all 4 of them, who would be the most upset of all the people on this forum?

... I would love to see Johnny Weir win the next Olympic gold. IMO he is a better skater than Lambiel, but he has not yet figured out how to skate a winning program at the world level when he needs to. Hopefully he will learn it at the next worlds.

What's good about all these comments is that the four mentioned: Lambiel, Weir, Oda and Takahashi are all about the same age and all have the ability to grow into something special in the next 3-1/2 years. And then their are the Canadian guys and Lysacek. It's not difficult to see the Men surpassing the Ladies in interest.Spun Silver said:My sentiments exactly. I don't really "get" Lambiel. I think Oda and Takahashi will be on many podia (?) in the next few years and I would be thrilled to see either of them get the OGM as well. At this point I still pull for Johnny because I find his skating so moving, and hope he will sharpen his competitive edge.

If Plushenko retires, as I expect he will, before the next Olympics, I would love to see Johnny Weir win the next Olympic gold. I agree.debdelilah said:I'm glad he won the World Championships, because I think he is now what his rivals want to become...
Because he's never beaten Plushenko in a full competition. Plushenko, until he announced he would not compete next season, has been the gold standard against whom Lambiel has been compared.Mathman said:I agree.
What I don't understand is why some folks want to call Stephane the NEXT great thing.
Ah, OK -- so it's a question of whether Lambiel will be the next GREAT thing, as in Plushenko great.hockeyfan228 said:Because he's never beaten Plushenko in a full competition.
